ENFIELD EST. MARCH 16, 1821
1
As of May 15, 1990, The Enfield Birthday Celebration Committee,
Nora Dodd, Ellie Hobbie, Cindy Hubbell, Jack Hubbell, and Sue
Thompson, would like to make the following suggestions towards
celebrating Enfield's 175th Birthday in 1996..Planning and work
on these suggested projects.and any other projects would start as
of June 1990.
I. DATES OF CELEBRATION
A. March 16, 1996 - Commemorative Ceremony *see page 6 for

Elementary School
C. June, 1996 - Fireman Field Days
D. July 4, 1996 - Community Picnic
E. October, 1996 - Harvest Festival
We feel that it would be more beneficial to organize events
within a celebration already established in the community.
II. PERMANENT ENFIELD BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION COMMITTEE
A. This committee would continue the work done by the first
Birthday Committee [est. 1/90]. Members would be duly
appointed by the Enfield Town Board. Suggested
volunteer members for this committee:
Ellie Hobbie, Cindy Hubbell, Jack Hubbell, and Sue
Thompson.
B. This second Birthday Committee would then recruit small
committees to work on the different phases of the
planning, etc. for the 175th birthday celebration. Keep
in mind that we need to reach all age groups of people
to involve everyone. A group listing should be made of
groups - organizations in the town. Activities should
be planned with everyone in mind or at least individual
activities should be planned for all age groups.
C. Ways and Means - Budget - a committee memeber is needed
to handle all financial matters within this committee.
QUESTION: HOW MUCH WILL THE TOWN SUPPORT IN FUNDING FOR THIS
CELEBRATION YEARLY - STARTING JUNE 1990 - THROUGH
2
THE YEAR 1996?
D. Legal Counselor- is needed for the committee to refer
questions to for advice on:
1. Insurance - during celebrations, if needed.
2. Insurance to cover any historical items borrowed
from community members to be used in planning, etc.
of the birthday celebration.
3. Copyright on Logo
4. Release of Responsibility Forms for borrowing
historical items.
QUESTION: IS THE TOWN WILLING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR
PERSONAL ITEMS OF HISTORIC VALUE WHICH WILL BE
BORROWED, DONATED FOR USE IN THE BIRTHDAY
CELEBRATION?
QUESTION: IS THERE A BUILDING [POSSIBILITY - OLD ENFIELD
TOWN HALL] THAT MAY BE USED TEMPORARILY [OR
PERMANENTLY] TO HOUSE EXHIBITS (MUSEUM), ETC.
FOR 1996. OPEN IT TO THE PUBLIC ON WEEKENDS TO
ATTEND. VOLUNTEERS TO RUN THE EXHIBITS
(MUSEUM) .
III. PUBLICATIONS
We would like to see a publication done of one or more of
the following listed items. Cost would depend on the type of
publication - book style, quick copy, etc.
A. Houses and families
B. Folklore
C. Chronological (1821-1996)
