Serve with half & half or ice cream. LAYERED BANANA PINEAPPLE DESSERT 11/2 c. graham cracker crumbs 2 (4 oz.) pkg. instant vanilla pudding 1/4 c. sugar mix 1/3 c.. margarine 1 (20 oz.)can crushed pineapple, 3 Dole bananas drained 1 (8 oz.)pkg.cream cheese 1 (8 oz.)tub Cool Whip 31/2 c. cold milk Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted margarine or butter in a 13x9 inch pan.Press evenly into bottom of pan.Arrange banana slices evenly over crust. Beat cream cheese in large bowl with whisk until smooth. Gradually add milk. Add pudding mixes; beat until well blended. Spread evenly over banana slices. Spoon pineapple evenly over pudding mixture. Spread Cool Whip over pineapple.Refrigerate 3 hours. Ready to serve. Serves 15. MISSISSIPPI MUD Brownie: 4 eggs 11/2 c. flour 1 c. shortening '14 c. unsweetened cocoa 2 c. sugar 1 c. nuts 1 tsp. vanilla Marshmallow creme Frosting: '/a c.shortenings - 1 tsp.vanilla '/z C. cocoa 21/2 c. confectioners sugar 1/3 c. milk `- Preheat oven to 350°. Grease 13x9x2 inch pan. Brownie:In a large bowl,beat eggs,shortening,sugar,and vanilla until light and fluffy.Add flour and cocoa;mix until well blended.Fold in nuts.Spread evenly in pan. Bake 40 to 45 minutes.Immediately place dollops of marshmallow creme on brownies. 1717-94 69 Frosting`.In a medium saucepan, melt shortening; stir in cocoa and cook 1 minute.Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients. Stir until smooth. Spread over brownie immediately. Joan Eisenhardt OATMEAL CRISPIES 2 c. sifted flour 2 eggs f tsp. baking soda 1 tsp.vanilla 1/2 tsp.salt 2 c. quick-cooking oats 1 c.shortening 2 c. crisp rice cereal 1 c. brown sugar 1 c.shredded coconut - 1 c. granulated sugar Siff flour,baking soda,and salt.Cream shortening with the sugars.Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla and flour mixture.Add cereals and coconut using your clean hands when the mixture gets stiff. Drop onto greased cookie sheet and bake 12 to 15 minutes in a 350' oven. Kaye Wollney SNOWBALLS 1I can pineapple Plain butter cookies (wafers) 1/2 lb. marshmallows Whip cream - 1 c.walnuts Coconut 1 c. sugar Make the day ahead. Drain pineapple; cut marshmallows fine. Chop nuts and mix with sugar. Let stand 2 hours. Crumble 8 butter cookies; add to mixture. Layer 3 cookies with mixture. Frost with whip cream;sprinkle with coconut. Store in a cool place overnight. Mix together with first 5 ingredients.Cook dates, sugar, water, and nutmeats over medium heat. Drop 1 teaspoon of dough, 1/2 teaspoon of filling, and '/z teaspoon of dough on top.Bake at 375° for.10 to 12 minutes.After baking, sift confectioners sugar over them. Cool Whip Beat cream cheese, sugar, and milk in large bowl until smooth. Hold cup- cakes,top side down,in palm of hand;spread topping on bottom and sides.Press coconut into frosting. Place cupcakes, top side down, on serving platter. Drizzle with melted chocolate. Refrigerate 1 hour. Refrigerate leftovers. Makes 24. ROLLED SOUR CREAM COOKIES 11/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 c. Crisco 2 tsp.baking powder 2 eggs 31/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt. 1 tsp. lemon extract_ 1 c.sour cream Cream together sugar,eggs, shortening,salt,sour cream.Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and lemon extract. Mix well; roll out and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 375° until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Nellie McEver HALF MOON COOKIES 11/2 c. Boil 1 minute -- and remove from heat. Add oatmeal, peanut butter, and vanilla. Drop on wax paper and let cool. Helen Jackson TOLL HOUSE SNOWBALLS 114 c. butter(must be butter) '/z tsp. salt '/z c. sugar 1 c. chopped walnuts I egg 1 c. butterscotch pieces 2 tsp.vanilla Confectioners sugar 2 c. flour Cream butter and sugar.Beat in egg and vanilla.Sift in flour and salt,mixing in thoroughly.Add nuts and butterscotch pieces. Chill. Shape into 1 inch bails(chill 1 hour if you wish to retain the ball shape). Bake on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes in a 350' oven.
