SCHUYLER COUNTY Silver Star 0 Year / ^Y t HISTORICAL SOCIETY n Vic- s n V Cayuta Town Clerk Marcella Wood Cayuta, N.Y. 14824 Dear Marcella, Saturday March 170 1984 Enfield To in Historian I have been researching the birth of the Ervay quadruplets for several years now. Their father Foster Ervay lived near Alpine in the late 1800's. It is my belief that he may 'have married, for the third time, someone from that area betweenthetime of his second wife's death in 1894 and his own death in 1905. I'm also ( primarily ) 'seeking the marriage and death records of the two quads that survived. The names being Ida Ade iia. and Irvan Adelbert. Please advise as to cost of transcripts of any,-recorda that-Y4qu may have concerning these people? Or if you lack bane tolook-lor, them in your records if it would be permissible fo'r me to, 46.46o at your convenience. I talked with Mrs. Decker on Sept.25, 1982 and upon replaying'A tape recording of that conversation she mentioned the fact that', -she could remember Foster Ervayl19 . etting married. The soundex of the -1,900 cereus list a Eliza Ervay as Foster's wife. According to the Laural Hil Cemetery records Foster's first wife died in 1863. His second wife died 5-8-1894 thus Eliza would seem to be a third wife. T have Lalked with Charles Harrington Catharine Historian, and RArbara Bell, S-chuyler County Historian, concerning this matter of the birthplace of the Ervay quadruplets. I have very little doubt as to the place of resdenoe--of Foster Ervay at the time of the births but I a m trying, e6ver all possible'2 leads concerning questions that may arise about Footer' and. his family'o- Perhaps you might permitt me to look thug your records at some tithe in the future Sincerely,,
