Lavine. CARRIED. May 10, 1990 minutes approved. Town Supervisor James Schug appeared before the Board with the Town Engineer George Schlecht to clarify /suggest how approval should /may be given. , 9 George Schlecht suggested that before the Board gives preliminary approval to a project with a condition that a specific area /item meets with the Town Engineer review /approval, that perhaps a preliminary approval should not be given until after the review. If negligence in another part of the project /design is seen while reviewing the specific request, the Town may find itself in a very difficult position of withdrawing what was preliminary approval conditioned on reviewing only one item. As he is paid an hourly retainer from the Town he reviews only the specific request, however if something is obviously not right, it is hard to overlook. That it be made clear to the applicant that they /he does not have preliminary approval until after we've had a chance to review the project and make our recommendation. Mr. Schlecht was asked by Barbara Caldwell if he was getting a feel for the type of things being referred and should /what other aspects should they have him review. Supervisor Schug stated that the Board not hesitate to have him review any aspect of a project they had any doubts about. In response to B.
