SEPTEMBER 19, 1985
Board met 7- 19 -85. Acting Chr. B. Lavine called meeting
8:15 PM with members R. Lampila, R. Chase, R. Beck,
Z.O. S. Stewart present. Absent - B. Caldwell
was saddened by the sudden death of Board member
There were no hearings or formal procedures on the agenda, so
B. Lavine opened the floor to residents from Beam Hill,
Gary Shelhamer, spokesman for the residents, questioned what Mr.
Pirsic may have in mind for Beam Hill. They'd heard he planned to
build apartments or multi - family residences there,
B. Lavine statedthere had been no formal application made. Said
M. Pirsic had been to July meeting with questions concerning a 5 lot
sub - division there.
R. Chase read minutes of July meeting concerning Mr. Pirsics
questions. Informed residents there would have to be a public hearing
set up before anything could be done.
G.
Shelhamer thanked Board for their help. Group left

PM,
B.
Lavine said Barbara asked him to be sure the Board
at
least
talked
about setting up a time table for continuing work
on
zoning.
GENERAL DISCUSSION - about last things that had been discussed;
whether or not this could be done effectively at regular meetings
or if special meetings may be more advantageous; knew it was another
commitment, but felt didn't get very far at regular meetings due to
lack of time & couldn't keep close enough to it once a month; feeling
that needed to be same group of people each time or at least one or
two who could be there most every meeting; now that approaching end
of busiest time of year, next 6 months should be quiet.
Decided to have a "kick -off meeting" OCTOBER 10. at 8:00 PM.
Need to set priorities & topics to be tackled, suggested each member
bring list of topics they felt needed attention. Maybe review minutes
of past two years minutes would be in order. Phasing should be
looked at, not only order in which to attack it, but grouping that
could be considered finished units. Like to see something along lines
of what it is we feel we could put together as unit that we would
be satisfied we'd done a good job with, before it is sent on to Town
Board. Need to decide different types of zones-there should be, &
if some could be combined. Something along lines of flood protection
zone on an over -lay zone - something of that sort - that we don't
have in zoning now. May be matter of going over present zones to see
what we want to cover & in what order, & what ones we want to combine.
Solar access, condominiums, co -ops, those are not covered by any
zone now. Maybe some zones could be made more restrictive, such as
single family housing, or owner occupied appartments, etc.

Sib located large sheet.; that had been used two years ago when
first reviewed zoning ideas. Will keep them available to work from.
Roger suggested everyone take time to scan minutes of previous
meetings to refresh themselves on what Board had done. Felt bringing
a list of suggestions & ideas on the 10th was great idea.
