A general discussion meeting was held at 7:30P.M., January 23, 1979
between Planning Board and Town Board members of Dryden. Three main topics
were discussed.
Sign Board at Etna Lane.
In 1974 the area was rezoned RBI. Due to the Federal
Beautification Act, the signs must be removed unless area designated
as commercial zone.
Mr. Bonn contacted some residence in the area in question
1) Mr. Parson, Mr. Young, Mr. Schutt, Mr. Dobson, Mr. Curtis
Mr. Darling
This being a bad intersection, they feel the sign is an asset
because you know where to turn at Etna Lane.
• The decision was to do nothing at the moment.
General Plan Book for Town of Dryden:
Chairwoman Caldwell stated that it is outdated. She wanted to
know if an effort should be made to update it. The Planning Board
would like to general objectives for town, SEQR, physical guide line
for the town.
It was stated by Supervisor Cotterill that he feels the town
needs commercial and industrial growth. He would like planning
board to find areas where th -i1s type of development could be possible.
Sapsucker 'Woods Intersection:
Mr. Bonn brought up this visibility problem and wanted to know
what, if anything, had been done about it. The town board passed
the resolution onto the county. They were to contact land owners.
Railroad Right of Way:
1) A petition was passed around showing approximately 100
signatures of land owners, mainly in Etna area, opposed
to a recreation area.
• 2) Attorney Mahlon Perkins is representing a group of land
owners who would prefer that the land revert back to owner.
No opposition if used for gas line or sewage use.
• Planning Board -2- January 23, 1979
3) Some board members feel answers to some questions, mainly
• maintenance and liability insurance, should be answered. More
study should be done.
4) Possibility for it being a referendum and voters would decide
the question.
Finally MO. Lavine noted that Attorney Amdur has never answered ours
question on nuclear waste being transported in our area. Mr. Cotterill
knew nothing of any response from her and would ask at a future Town
Board meeting.
REspectfully submitted,
Joan Bray= Secretary
