Planning Board
Peter A. Curtiss
Meeting on January 16
January 14, 1969
.Our regular January meeting will be held this Thursday at 8 p.m. in the
Town Hall. The first and very interesting agenda item is a proposal by
Rocco P. Lucente for a 160 -unit mobile home park on Upper Creek Road (between
Hurlbutt. and Knettles) in Etna. This is to be a fairly high -class park; it
will have its own sewage (pond type) and water supply systems. Rocco showed
and- discussed the plan with me last week; he has visited the surrounding
neighbors, and met with approval. He will be the meeting to answer any
questions. One special request with his park is that he would like the Town
to take over the roads involved after he has built them to specifications.
We should look at this closely.
The other and most important item is zoning. I'm pleased to report that
Carol Sienko finished typing everything but the sign section and the
definitions before she left for Hawaii. The format she used is excellent --
easy to read and follow. Ginna and I have spent over 7 hours last week and
this week proofreading, cross - checking; and cleaning up. We have found.a
few problems that should be resolved, but generally the ordinance except.for
signs is done, and we will get a copy to Helen Amdur for a quick check and
to ensure we can properly set a date late this month for our first.public
hearing. With luck at our meeting Thursday we can resolve the few size
problems we've uncovered, and agree on the new (and quite restrictive) sign
regulations. Please be thinking about this billboard business. The final
typing and corrections should be completed early next week, with .a copy going
to Helen first. To have five days' notice in the papers for a hearing on
Thursday, January 30, we will have to have an O.K.'from Helen no later than
Thursday, the 23rd. It will be tight, but I'd like to try for it. If it is
too tight, the hearing may slip into the first week in February, but there
still should be no problem with a second hearing (and-possible adoption) in
the same month.
See you Thursday! j
