Home My WebLink About1966-03-17it, W", ..1 i.. • TOWN PLANNING BOARD,, TOWN OF DRYDENyNEW YORK MARCH 17, 1966 The Planning Board for the Town of Dryden met March 17, 1966 in the Town Hall at 8:00 P.M. with members, Lengemann, Sheffy, Hardesty, Hanford, Reed, Paterson, and Chairman Curtiss in attendance. Mr. Denman, Rural Consultant; Tom Todd, Supervisor for the Town of Dryden; and L. Be Hardesty were also present. The minutes of the February 17th meeting were approved. The Official Notice, which appeared in the Rural News and the Ithaca Journal prior to March 11, 1966.was read by the Secretary. "Please Take Notice that the Planning Board of the Town. of Dryden wi11 hold a public hearing, pursuant to Section 276 of the Town Law on the application of Mr. L. Be Hardesty for approval of a subdivision .plat entitled "The Knoll Trees ". Said subdivision is lacated on the west side of Genung Road, Said Hearing will be held on the 17th day of March 1966, at the Town offices at 8 p.m., at which time all interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard. 4 , By order' of the Planning Board" Peter A. Curtiss, Chairman Chairman Curtiss asked L. Be Hardesty to describe his proposal on the major subdivision, The Knoll Trees. Mr. Hardesty presented four maps, which were carefully checked over by the Planning Board. Mr. Hardesty reported that the Health Certificate has been filed with the Tompkins County Clerk. He further reported that Dick Case has been contacted regarding the road in this subdivision and that the Town has a copy o,f the deed, together with a map. Chairman Curtiss stated that no phone.calls or letters were received regarding this major sub- division. Therefore, as there were no objections by anyone, this was unanimously approved and signed. One copy of the plat will be ,filed with the Town Clerk o,f Dryden, one ,filed with the Town Planning Board,. and two returned to Mr. Hardesty. Ginna Hardesty presented a petition, properly signed, to the Planning Board which read as ,follows: "To the Town of Dryden Planning Board. We, the undersigned, residents and property owners along the Ellis Hollow Road from the Gilmores' to its end at the corner where the Ring wood Road and the Ellis Hollow Creek Road begin, and along the Ellis Hollow South Road to the Caroline Town line, respectfully call your attention to the ,fact that in August 1957, the Dryden Town Board, in response to a petition from all the residents and property owners along these roads at that time, officially changed the names of our roads. from Ringwood Road to Ellis Hollow Road and Ellis Hollow South Road. Pie also ask that every effort be made to persuade the Town of Caroline to accept the name, Ellis Hollow South Road, for that road all the way to the Slater- ville Road Route 79;, and so to end the confusion caused by its re- tention until now o.- f the name Ringwood Road for that part of the road which is in Carolin." Supervisor Todd reported that a private company from Syracuse is now making a road map'for the County with road name changes as o,f this .date. This particular map sells for a price of $300000 The second portion of tonight's meeting is for the purpose of :determining public acceptance of proposed road name changes in the :Northeast section of the Town. A copy of the news release is attached hereto. There apparently was no written or verbal disagreements on the recommended road name changes. These recommendations will now be presented to the Dryden Town Board for their approval.. Considerable discussion was held on Gulf Hill Road which runs from School St. in the"Town of Groton to Malloryville Road. It.was suggested `that Starfford Road be deleted. George Hanford was requested to check to see if McClintock -Road could be continued from the junction o.f Lake Street and Lake Road. Mr. Denman stated there was some confusion on the direction o,f numbering on roads, especially in the NW section. It was :agreed that the roads should be numbered from Freeville toward Lansing. Other minor. changes were discussed and resolved to that cards can -be prepared and mailed to the residents in the NW section. Meeting adjourned at 10:30. I� s" i � i. :v 1 �• TOWN OF DRYDEN �RYDEN , � NEW YORK March 4, 1966 FOR RELEP SE PRIOR TO MARCH 15 IN THE HEART OF FINGER LAKES REGION TOrvN OF DRYDEN HOLDS SECOND MEETING FOR RECO•,iMENDED ROAD NAME CHANGES The Town of Dryden Planning Board has called a public meeting for Thursday, March 17, to determine public acceptance of proposed) road name changes in the northeast section of the town. The meeting is scheduled to take place it the Dryden Town Hall at 8:30 p.m* following-. a subdivision hearing. The Planning Board has been working for .several months on a dual program of renumbering houses and renaming certain roads where necessary to clear up vague and often confusing situations existing within the town. A main objective of these efforts is to provide a consistent town ma.p for the benefit of fire companies and other c emergen r services . The road name changes proposed are generally within the north- east section of the town, bounded on the west by Route 38 and on the south by Route 13, the village of Dryden and the McClintock Road. The proposed changes are as follows: the road running from South Lansing to McLean will be called the Peruville Road. That part of Route 38 going from the center of Freeville to the Peruville Road will be called the Groton Road, Fall Creek Road will run from the center of Freeville to the Groton town line. Gulf Hill Road will run from Fall Creek Road in the Town of Groton to Route 13. The section of road known as the Old Gulf Hill Road off of Route 13 will be renamed the Old Dryden Road. North Road will run from Route 13 toNthe Fall Creek Road, superseding the Dryden- McLean Road. } <i -�� Cady Lane will run from Fall Creek Road. to Mott Road . George Road will run from Fall Creek Road to Route 13, superseding North and South George Road. Freeville Road will run from Route 13 at the edge of Dryden village to the George Road. Virgil Road will run from the end of Fast Main Street in Dryden to the Cortland. County line. Bradshaw Road will run from Virgil Road to Walker Road. Catchbasin Road is eliminated. Livermore Road will run from McClin- Lock Road to Simms Hill Road. Johnson Road will run from Fain Street in Freeville to Route 13, eliminating the need. for Johnson Road Extension. Other reads in this section of Dryden not specifically men- tioned here will remain the same. Public meetings for the southern sections of town will be held this Spring. After each public meet- ing the recommendations of the Planning Board will be presented to the Dryden Town Board for their approval. END Thank you.
