TOWN PLANNING BOARD, TOWN OF DRYDEN, NEW YORK
I
The P1ann in9 Board for the Town of Dryden met June 17, 1965 in the
Town Building at 8:30 with Chairman Curtiss, George Hanford, Mrs. Hardesty,
and Dr. Benson in attendance. Minutes o•f the Mast meeting. were approved.
Chairman Curtiss reported that Fred Langemann presented the House
Numbering Program to the Town of Dryden on June 8, 1965. This was tabled. i
This matter will be brought up at the next meeting but in the meantime
the contract went to Helen Amdur for her approval. This will give the
Supervisor time to check on which fund the money could come •from; a1so,,
I the members will have time to give this some serious thought.
Chairman Curtissstated that some other - method o,f reproducing the
minutes of the meetings will have to be secured. Dr. Benson assured him
this would be taken care o,f.
' The matter. o,f .the Town Board wanting a recommendation in regard to
the Town Park was discussed. It is the thought that the Town should take
an option on this land. Dr. Benson' said that the blank check from the
Dryden. Kiwanis would be su,f,ficient to .furnish the park with necessary
equipment. This particular place is a nice location and easily accessible
with approximately'35 acres. The creek which runs through this property
is owned by the State. Chairman Curtiss suggested that a rough -sketch map
in regard to Lower Creek .Rd., and Route 13 be obtained, as well as,the
name of -the owner.
Dr. Benson has talked with re''sidents on Bone Plain Road, and they
de,fin itel y want the road name changed.
lfrs. Hardesty reported on an item which was mentioned at the end
o•f the GIRPB meeting o.f June 7. It has to do with subsidized low -rent
housina for the elderly. Apparently there has been created an Ithaca
1 Housing Authority. One Hundred units'are needed for the elderly.
.Federal Housing Authority lends to the Local Authority on a 40 year
basis
,Federal-
interest rate. These units are self- supporting and
tax •free with a small rent per month. Naturally the cost would be re-
flected in the tax rate. Mrs. Hardesty said that the GIRPB could in-
. fluence 'the City Planning Board` considerably. She asked. i,f this was a
financing mechanism:. .which we would recommend. This was discussed in
detail. More information will be obtained by Mrs. Hardesty.
"le discussed the extent o•f the Planning Board's involvement in
future recommendations affecting the region as a whole. These considera-
tions may a..f;fect the County as a whole yet may bear very little on the ;.
Town o,f Dryden.
The Railroad Loop plan is now ready for presentation to the Common
Council. Mr. Niederkorn, City Planning Director, saw it and received
a resolution stating GIRPB's support .o•f this plan. j

cerning the Peruville Road, South Lans ing- McLean Road and 'Dryden Road

! named The Peruville Road, with the existing Peruville Road to be cal
i.
The Old Peru*Road. Mr. Denman, who is presently working on the Groton i
i road names,! has also recommended this rhange.'k
