Ninth Meeting TOWN OF DRYDEN PLANNING BOARD July 28, 1958
The ninth meeting of the Town'ef Dryden Planning Board opened at 8:25 p.m.
on Monday, July 28 at the Town Offices. Present were Mr. McGory, Mr. Sadd,
Mrs. Payne, Mr. James, Mr. Harrington, Mr. Gridley, Mr. Abrams, and Mr. Paterson.
Mr. Hanshaw was absent.
Mr. Paterson was introduced to the group by Mr. Sadd as the new member of
the Planning Board appointed by the Town Board to replace Mr. Guest.
Board.
The minutes were read and approved.
Mr. Sadd reported that Mr. Harrington wishes to remain on the Planning
Mr. Gridley reported in answer to a question by the Chairman that Mr. Abrams,
the Town of Dryden assessor has accepted the job of making the combined Official
Zoning and Tax Map for the Town of Dryden.He would not do it immediately but would
start it on or about September 15. Mr. Abrams described the proposed map as
scale
being in 93 sections with a smalle one -piece map for wall reference. He believes
it would be completed in January, 1959• He stated that there would /ae

for ttie.nanning Board to start work on by the end of September.
Mr. McGory moved and Mr. Harrington seconded that the Planning Board ap-
prove the deiiaion of the Town Board that the Town Assessor make the Official
Town Map and set forth railroadsand other public sef'vice utilities, residential
property, agricultural property, commercial property, industrial property, and
recreational property, outside the villages. Certain sections wetll be completed
by October 1 and the whole job completed by January 1, 1959.
In discussion as to whom should be the attorney for the Planning Board,
Mr. Gridley advised that the Planning Board should retain Mr. Newman, who has
been appointed by the Town Board as Torn Attorney. Mr. Gridley will advise Mr. New-
man that the Planning Board will need his services. Mr. Sadd asked Mr. Grid1W
• to get the Town Board's approval for use of the attorney; also that he arrange
a meeting between himself, Mr. Gridley and Mr. New man to acquaint Mr. Newman with
the requirements of the Board.

Mr. Abrams offered to work with the Planning Board on familiarizing
members with the areas in the Town. Mr. Abrams presented a list of "State
Board of Equalization and Assessment Classifications and Definitions of Types
of Real Property". Mr. Abrams will try to get additional copies of this, es-
pecially one for Mr. Newman so that he can approve or dissapprove these definitions
for our use. Mrs. Payne pointed out that these definitions were not as com-
prehensive as the d$ini.tions suggested in the New York State handbook. Mr. Abrams
expressedthe hope that the same code could be used for the definitions for
zoning pulposes as is used for tax purposes. Mr. Abrams was advised that
Mr. Newman would give him a list of approved definitions for zoning purposes.
The ehairman broached the subject of a proposal by the Greater Ithaca Planning
Board that the County Planning Boards join with it in Coun -Ay -wide planning.
Mr. Sadd suggested that the Town of Dryden Planning Board invite Mr. Phillip
Wallick to one of its meetings to explain this plan. Mr. Sadd also guggested
theat the Dryden Town Board be invited also. Mr. James moved and it was carried
that Mr. Wallick be invited to a future meeting of the Planning Board.
Tentatively, a meeting was set for August 18 and another for August 25, one
for Mr. Newman and one for Mr. Viallick, as could be arranged by Mr. Sadd and
Mr. Gridley.
Mr. James moved that the meeting be adjurned.
