HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-07-10r qlq Second Meeting TOWN OF DRYDEN PLANNING BOARD July 10, 1957 Our second meeting convened at 8:25 p.m. July 10 at the Town Hall. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The resolution was put forward by Mr. Sadd that meetings be called on time in the future. This was approved by all four members present. (One more member came in late.) The letter sent to Bradford Morgan, Dryden Village Mayor, was read and it was decided to send a similar one to Gordon Haskins, Freeville Village Mayor, The Secretary was instructed to write for seven copies each of two more pamphlets, "Zoning and Civic Development" and "What New Industrial Jobs Mean to a Community" from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Sadd moved that we invite a representative of the State Department of Commerce to our next meeting. It was decided that we suggest July 24 or 31, with our preference for the 31st. Mr. Sadd suggested contacting Mr. John H. Nixon, Director of the Department. Mr. Guest mention Mr. George Haynes of the Bureau of Planning. It as also suggested by Mr. Sadd and approved by the entire group that we adopt the County Planning Seminar pamphlet on "Zoning- -How to Do It ". A general discussion on various regulations restricting commercial property ensued. All agreed that we should do as much as possible to insure attractive commercial property with sufficient parking areas, etc. Mr. Sadd suggested that we try to find out whether or not a G.E. labb&V was being considered for Dryden and also whether such a lab would be tax fred.L�or Mrs. Payne was akked, at Mr. Sadd's suggestion to write a letter to Mr. Wm Robinson, State Engineer, to see what the status of Route 13 through the Town of Dryden is. Plans for the preparation of a base map were started. Each person r -2- Second Meeting TOWN OF DRYDEN PLANNING BOARD July 10, 1957 took a section of the map of the town in order to designate structures located thereon, using a color key. A discussion followed on the advisability of each person using the same kinds of colors, and if so, how we would get the money to buy these and other needed items. It was decided that Mr. McGory would approach the Town Supervisor on this matter. Mr. Guest brought to notice the need for at least a dozen copies of the map of the Town of Dryden. Mr. Hanshaw, referring to the matter of the base map akked, "What will constitute a farm on our maps ?" It was generally agreed that any farm which is being used at all for agricultural purposes will be designated. with an grange mark. At the suggestion of Mr. Guest, the next meeting was set as July 24, regardless of whether or not the state representative comes on that date. Yr. McGory moved that the meeting adjcwn. atharine C.
