Youth Employment Guide All agreed the template the students are using to gather info looked
fine. Kris reported that there will likely be 32 businesses listed, each requiring % page. The
booklet will be 8 % X 11, folded in half into a booklet. Pages will be white with black ink, cover
will be color. Kris gave Linda student enrollment numbers for this year so Linda could
determine how many guides, to print. Linda has prepaid the printing costs at WordPro, using
$746.20 of the $750 grant. 'Typing and finishing will take place in the new year. DYC members
asked how we will know whether the guide was useful, can we ask employers or teens? We will
raise this with CCE when they attend in January, perhaps using email or phone to gather
feedback.
Police & Community Kris shared the report Chief Margaret Ryan had submitted to Kris &
Stephanie outlining meetings and presentations at Dryden and Freeville schools this fall. DYC
had questions and want clarification on several things.
The report references many hours of "meet, greet and interact "; what does this mean? Are
these scheduled or spontaneous? flow is this different from classroom sessions?
Not all items reported indicate the school where the activity took place. We will request that
future reports include this detail.
What curriculum is used during classroom presentations or assemblies?
DYC asked Kris tin request that Margaret attend in February to clarifv these questions and to
bring program goals, curriculum outline and materials, sample kit so DYC can get a better idea
of what is covered. DYC %Krill refine its questions for this meeting in January.
OURS Program Launch Kris and Linda Schoffel attended a recent OURS board meeting. The
Cornell volunteers are eager for a staff person to be hired. Hiring process will begin in Jan. Job
description has been finalized.
Membership Updates In Shik's terns ends 12131; she is interested in being reappointed. Kris
will find out whether In Shik needs to submit anything for this. Cynthia reported that her friend
Kim Donnelly Skenk is interested in being appointed to the V. Dryden open seat; she is
completing the form and will submit to the Village. Kris has alerted the Village to look for this.
That leaves one V. Freeville opening; Cynthia will ask her friend Susan Trask if she would be
willing.
Other Kris distributed Dave and Tom's monthly program reports. Kris reported that all
programs have submitted the necessary paperwork for their 2007 funding except for
Brooktondale Camp, that is in the works.
Plan for Jan. 16 meeting We will elect officers, review and adopt goals, review the calendar,
confirm liaisons, invite and hear from CCE RYS, prepare for the Feb. meeting when Police and
Community will attend.
® The meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM1
