JAIIen called the meeting to order at 6AO, introductions were made,
Deport on 2005 Youth Maw ing Project Barb 13aker shared a written report (at(aclied) and
display board about a project she was invol ved with last summer. 3 groups of teens {Dryden,
Ithaca Youth Bureau, Village at Ithaca) participated in youth community action projects, a new
component of CCEe s 414 Youth Developmerltr The Dryden group met in Varna and involved 4
teens, ages 14-16, who were paid for the part -time work with funds from the Workforce
Investment Board, The tuns looked at the community of Dryden to identify issues of concern,
strengths and an action plan from a youth perspective. T'he project involved youth taking photos,
interviewing s(aktaholders and surveying Dryden residents (a survey was available at the library,
Barb didn't know how many people were surveyed or interviewed.). The teens identified drugs
as an area of concern. They created a summary of their findings and snap of Dryden showing fun
places for Dryden youth,
Annual Program Import, CCE Drydon Youth Services Dave gave updates ofhis current
prognuns. For the firs( trine ever, the Primitives overnight was postponed due to weather, More
kids are joining his teen challenge groups. Craft Club had lower participation than desired.
Animal Helpers is full, a ,second session is corning soon. With Tom, he has dome severai DEC
workshops recently. I-Ie is trying (o resolve an issue about using the Cornell climbing wall, had
to cancel a recent plan to bring kids there, JoEllen suggested he cheep with SUNY Cord and
which also has a climbing wall_ She will give hirri contact info_ He is thinking ahead to summer,
is thinking of not leaving a regular summer helper but using help as needed_ Is that DK with
'DYC_ iris mentioned that since CE youth employment funds were reduced this }year, this
appears to make sense. Dave's and Tom's new program list is out, Tom's current projects are
going well — Garage Band, Supersitters (is full to capacity, mostly with new participants).
ncvc, short -term horse project is planned_ The Helping Hods project has not drawn �iy kids
(though last semester's participants requested this, none signed up). Food, Glorious, Food
(cooking, nutrition, local sustainable food systems, relevant field trips) is going well, he's using
other CCE and Comel i resources; they will be making an Earth Day presentation on 4/23 at the
Ithaca Farmers Market. Tom will be doing recruitment for sur��tner jabs for Youth Cons, Corps
and other employment related help. He participated in a meeting the previous day with Linda,
Kris B_, and staff from the Ithaca Youth bureau including Allen Green, Megan -Mack Nicholson
to clarify roles and iden(if }+ projects_ Linda shared copies of annual reports .for 2005 by program
manager and of the RYS evaluation report (copies of the latter are available for presentations to
'lown1Village boards), In the evaluation report, each program( manager chose one program to
track and evaluate_ Linda also shard a budget update_ Kris gave Linda copies of the youth and
parent feedback form; DYC would like program managers to distribute. these to participants.

Annual Report Update Kris still has not received reports from V. Dryden Youth Jobs and
Brooktondale Day Camp, she is continuing to follow up, Once she has these she will incorporate
their info into the full DYC annuaI report and email info to JoElie f the P erpor
Review Draft Feedback Form Alan Macomber had drafted a form to use to gather feedback
from schools and teachers about the Police and Cornmunity Program, The DYC members had
some suggested revisions, Kris will make them and email the form to all for review before we
distribute the fonn.
Recreation Updates Trace did not attend the most recent R.ec. CvmT1lission meeting, She did
report that negotiations are underway for a skateboard park in the Village_ Kris reported that the
civil service issue with t11e camp director for V. Dryden is still pending; a meeting scheduled on
this issue was cancelled, Steve Fstes from the County is working on job desenptians and feels
this can be resolved in time_ inSh1k reported that the V. Freevllle camp is uncertain for this
summer since playground renovations ire not expected to be done_
Other )!ins shared info about a Town Hall Meeting ors Underage Drinking, to be held April 27.
All are invited to attend, please help spread the word. Also, County Youth er -vices will be
conducting a 3 week survey of count} high school students in May on transportation_ iris just
rne( with Dryden Fligh School staff to review and edi t the survey and strategize how best to gel
students to take the on -line survey. Tracy reported that a Dryden Rotary Club is starting, they
have identified transportation for youth as an issue.
Next meeting The next meeting will take place on April 1 l (moved from the usual 3 r Tues. to
avoid school break) at Dryden High School's conference room tenter through high school door,
follow signs)_
