Woods presents,
Youth Program Report —Dave presented his report, see attached, programs
are going well_ The teen issues group is going strong and though the °Cooking
with Sally' has low enrollment at this paint but Dave is fairly sure that it will
increase. There seems to be tittle interest in the trail project but this may change
also or Dave may try this as a summer project. Colleen asked how the programs
were advertised, in addition to the posters, announcements, ithaca Journal and
Dryden Tidbits, Dave will investigate putting information into the school bulletin,
which may rnean that more parents read the Information. Dave is currently
getting this information to Homo schooling families and floes have a number of
youth from this group who participate.
Marie — The Mouth for Hire project has a lot of interest from youth but it has been
difficult to get casual jobs for them_ Will refocus and look at developing local
employment opportunities. Will be referring youth to the YCC positions and
recruit for Club Dryden_ Will be talking to the local camps and the village to see
about employment positions there. Will begin to focus the youth employment on
the skill development workshops, The Drarna project continues to be strong and
with the new grant from the Tobacco Coalition illl begin to develop materrals for
the video will combine youth groups with the Lansing group to produce this video_
Girl talk going very well and strong.
Amanda Distributed time budget to date and the program is on target. Expenses
are at a bit over the quarter mark but this is good news as we have two prograrn
managers offering programs, Marie has accepted a full time position in Lansing,
which will begin M September. She will' continue to provide programs here until
then and be available to help transition a new staff person into the jots_ The
commission discussed how to proceed and suggested that Amanda get
information to Cortland and T03 recreation programs announcing the opening
and to get the word out through the free sources beginning now_ Perhaps we will
be lucky and find someone this way.
Summer Discussions
Dave passed around the surnmer program and it was suggested that he put
attention to the development of activities for rn rddle school youth far the
afternoon times. This should be gone at the same time as other advertising as
recruitment for this age was this was a problem last summer.
