Youth Program Report — Marie Sirakos
See attached. In addition to these activities the youth are interested in more
theater trips and activities. The "Girl Talk" group will get involved in the
clothesline project and create a T -shirt. This group had a speaker from the Child
Abuse Task Force who inspired them to become involved. In March will begin
Baby Sitter training, through the Red Cross, and offer other employment
• readiness activities. The Youth employment project is taking off. A couple of
youth connections to work have been made. Advertising for more employers
through local sources. Marie thinks this will pick up either with snow or good
weather.
Amanda reported that there is money available through the Health Department
for tobacco cessation. Marie has expressed interest in this money to show effects
of smoking through a dramatic presentation. Clarified that the Volunteer group
was an inspiration of a group of girls who were interested in working with younger
kids and are currently thinking of other ways to become involved as volunteers in
the community. Dave is working with this group.
Election of Officers
Penny and Kristen are willing to Co -chair again this year and suggested that the
minutes be taken on a rotating basis. Will have to hold vote in Feb. as not a
quorum.
Appointment of Liaisons
Role of the liaison will be to make one monitoring visit per year or season and to
follow up with programs to be sure that claims have gone in so that we can help
avoid the end of the year crunch.

Review of Commission Goals.
General discussion of stated goals — will focus on ways to receive more youth
feedback re, programs that they participate in as well as what they would like
more of, Karen will bring samples use by other commissions for members to
work from to design own feed back forms, Another way to get feedback is to
have youth attend a meeting to report on specific program or ideas. The
Commission will follow up with this at the February meeting,
Karen will update the Working Calendar for February also.
New Business
}wren Coleman spore with Diane Hill, Director of the Dryden after school
program. Diane does not know if Bonnie will return from Ariziona, It may be
difficult for them to run an entire program without Bonnie. She does have a staff
person, Bobbie Jo Kimmich, who is interested in part of the program and may be
able to offer a skating program this winter_ Diane will get back to Caren with a
better idea or proposal by February. The Commission will have to do some
evaluation of status and make financial changes if necessary before summer
planning gets underway.
Old Business
Nita Baldwin got all the claims in an time (to the county) and we were successful
in spending aJl but $300. This is goad news.
Penny will follow up with recruitment of two new members and Karen will notify
the Dryden Town and Village,
