HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-12-12Dryden Youth Commission Minutes December 12, 2000 Attending: Kristen Blackman, Penny Green, Tracy Kurtz, Dave Hill, Jean Simpson, Karen Coleman, Amanda Verba Absent: Nita Baldwin, Walt Matyjas, Mary Bachner Meeting called to order at 7:30 (relocated from Town Hall to Burger King) Minutes approved as presented. Youth Program Report- Dave Hill. Dave reviewed his programming for December and ideas for January. Programs are going well including the in school group. This is a coed group of middle school youth who meet to discuss different topics. Dave has heard that there may be change in the afterschool bus schedule. This will affect his programs as will cut time available by nearly an hour and some youth depend on the bus for transportation home. Dave like bing in the school more and hopes the space continues to be available, he and Marie are using her old office. The last video project wasn't as successful as Dave had hoped so will rethink this before he does it again. Mike Allmindinger was suggested as a contact for this project. Marie is at work again, has many projects going. The theater group will be taking a field trip to see A Christmas Carol at the Firehouse Theater next week. In addition workshops in career exploration, babysitting, a field trip to Corning, and a group is being recruited for snow shoveling as a part of the Youth Employment program. Winter Program Update — Amanda, the Cooperative Extension (Youth Program) budget in good shape and will end the year fine. Dave and Marie have pre purchased a few things for 2001. New Business- Thanks to Tracy for 6 years of service to the Youth of Dryden. This is her last official meeting, however, she is interested in what we are doing and will continue to work with Dave and Marie at the school. Tracy has mentioned the serving on the Youth Commission to Kim Chase. She is interested. Karen will put together packets and get them to Penny. Letters stating allocations will be sent during the next week to programs receiving 2001 funds. January meeting — third Tuesday in January. Election of officers. Look at program goals and appoint liaisons. Meeting adjourned at 8:10pm •
