Fall Program Review: Amanda Verba distributed fall program reports from Dave
and Marie. Marie has been on a medical leave since mid September and plans to
return to work on December 151. She has suggested some ideas for youth
employment projects, one of which would be a snow shoveling team. She will
have a more clear idea of her schedule in December. Dave has been pretty busy
with activities. He joined with the Trumansburg group to go on a rafting trip.
Which was a great success and hopes to repeat this next year. The Cooking
class was well attended and the focus was making healthy after school snacks.
They also did a trip to the science center which was also a success. December
plans include a Metal working workshop at Durand's Forge, Animal connections
and Holiday Candle Making.
Amanda shared the current standing for the budget and suggestions from Dave
and Marie for spending until the end of the year. These were generally accepted
® and they will have a better idea at the December meeting of finances to the end,
of the year. Amanda asked if the Commission was comfortable continuing to
cover the building use costs for the Tae Kwon Do classes, which we recruit for
but do not run. The Commission voted to pay the building use costs as this keeps
the program free for those who participate.
Amanda shared the goals that Cornell Cooperative Extension has established
when working with youth. The Commission reviewed these and agreed that they
are a good match with Commission goals.(See attached)
No Old Business
New Business- When the County passes the budget will need to discuss the
changes and the request for an increase if necessary.
December Agenda - Election of officers and recruitment for the vacancy left by
Tracy will be topics next month.
