Present: Kristin Blackman, Walt Matjyas, David Hall, Dan Klein, Amanda Venba
Absent: Jean Simmons, Mary Bachner, Tracy Kurtz, Penny Green, Nita Baldwin
March minutes:
Recommendation to accept minutes as written.
Youth Development Report:
Fly- fishing Club has started. Ideally they would like 1 volunteer at meetings, probably
will be the fall before this gets worked out.
Animal Connections will start at the beginning of May.
Summer programming is coming out soon. Camp fees will be done like last year —
Cooperative Extension will collect fees and these funds will go toward the program
costs. Camp will be schedule at intervals at three locations, Etna then Varna then
Freeville. Program received a donation from Paddocks as a thank you to Dave for a job
well done.
Youth Development Update.
Coordinator update — Dan has been appointed as interim Coordinator for 6 -12 more
months. Amanda Verba has been hired as Assistant.
Budget doing well.
Selection of Liaisons:
Walt will make arrangements with Dave to visit his programs. Kristen will monitor the
Freeville Summer Camp.
New Business.
Talked about proposal from Marie Holl. She has fewer hours than we originally thought
but has put together some ideas. By combining the new funds from the town and from
Cooperative extension there are enough funds available to hire her to work with the
employment project and as Youth Activity Coordinator for "Club Dryden ". Walt made
motion to hire Marie at $ 8.00 per hour for 240 hours this summer. This was seconded
and passed. Amanda (Cooperative Extension) will supervise Marie, David and Chuck to
provide summer programs for Dryden youth.
Dave can use her in at least 1 week of Summer Skies for Drama. Will we need to hire
someone to help Dave at the camp? Dave and Amanda will meet to discuss this and
proceed to hire an assistant to Dave if necessary.
New /Old Business:
Karen met with Town Supervisor. He expressed interest in having programs at outlying
areas of the County. Bethel Grove has inquired about more Town of Dryden support
and programs may be held there at a later date.
May Agenda:
Third week in May — 16h next meeting, 7:00 @ Village Hall. Karen suggested that the
Commission form a Committee to review and work with the Police & Community
Program. Will pursue this in May.
Liaisons for May — Those who have not selected a program to visit will need to do so
soon.
Final summer brochure ready.
