HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-05-19R Dryden Youth Commission Minutes May 19, 1998 Attending: Dave Hall, Tracy Kurtz, Steve Kirsch, JoAnn Myer - Foland, Nita Baldwin, Laszlo Engel, Karen Coleman Meeting /called to order at 6:55 Pm Title of agenda and minutes amended to read Dryden Youth Commission. Minutes passed as ammended. Youth Development - JoAnn reported that the Cornell Students (tutors) are working with the study group to help them gear up for finals. Two students who have had perfect attendance were given recognition and a gift. Dave reported that the Counselor in Training workshop did not generate enough interest to be run. The Super Sitter program has been postponed - will most likely begin in a couple of weeks. Summer Camp brochure was reviewed and commented on. The Commission recommended that a procedure be put in place for collecting and recording the checks /cash received as payment for camp participation. Budget - Received additional funds from the Town which will cover the recommended programs for 1998. Brooktondale and the Youth Conservation Corps will be run as recommended by the Youth Commission. There will be a meeting between the Village Mayors and the Town Supervisor ,the County Youth Bureau and Steve to deal with some of the bigger questions and hopefully some of these issues will not reoccur in 1999. . Action Plan- t) Meeting with key players needs to happen prior or at the next meeting. 2) Directory of Youth Programs done by October 1 st. 3) October Symposium 4) visibility - we need to increase program /workshop publicity,photos would help 5) Youth Center /on going discussion. New Business - June 9,1998 a Meeting will be held at the HSB (Youth Bureau offices) to discuss a proposal which includes some changes in funding , contracts and a three year plan for municipal programs. Everyone is invited and if you are interested please let Karen know and you will receive a packet which will incuded the proposal and the "thinking" to date.
