Attending: Steve Kirsch, JoAnn Myer- Foland, Laszlo -€, David Hall, Tracy
Kurtz, Roger Riley, Nita Baldwin, Barbara Hopkins, Karen Coleman.
Meeting Called to order at 6:45 PM
• Steve read two letters; the first was from Loretta Carrillo which announced her
resignation from the Youth Commission due to family and personal issues. The
second was from The Varna Community Association signed by Richard
Humerez., thanking us for our support of the Homework Club. He also
announced that the VCC has recent received a grant which would help
them with some building improvements and the construction of a
playground.
• Allen Green attended briefly, to discuss the Conservation Corps. Will explore
the Varna site as a possibility since the West Dryden Community Center
project seems unlikely this summer. The IYB is close to offering the assistant
position and will stay in touch with us re; budget. He received a go ahead
from the town via. Karen Coleman to continue as if fully funded. This still has
to be officially approved by the Town Board.
• The Youth Commission still has openings for representatives from the Village
of Freeville (1) Town of Dryden(1) Village of Dryden (1).
• Bonnie Hill , Director School Age Program, will send the Commission a written
report about the winter Skating project which received funding from the
Town.
• Clarification of the Summer Youth Program: Program managers will develop
a total of six weeks of program which will be planned for-
- 4 weeks of summer camp held at the Freeville Firehall- 3 weeks of programs
and 1 week of fly fishing
2 weeks of summer program held at Varna CC. (pending enough
registration) 1 week of program and 1 week of fly fishing.
Program ideas include family night, something that would be
intergenerational, and perhaps a three on three basketball.
United Way - should hear by the End of May if we received funds, will move
ahead with plans then for a " Club Dryden'.
• Publicity- Would like to work on more publicity for programs and activities
being offered. Karen will send an updated roster -sand with addresses of
Village officials. Will begin to send more information out. Still working on the
meeting with all officials to discuss Youth Commission.
• Need to have Lazlo and Roger officially sworn is as village and Town Reps.
Karen will begin this process_.

Steve and Karen are actively pursuing clarity on'the budget issues- they plan to
attend the May 12th Town Board Meeting.
Steve outlines 5 issues that he believes the Youth commission should focus on.
1) Youth Center and all that involves
2) Directory of youth programs/ services for the municipalities, a comprehensive
resource.
3) A meeting of key players, Mayor and supervisors to clarity concerns
4) A town meeting to hear from youth and adults.
5) more visibility of programs and activities of the Youth Commission.
