County Briefing
Dan Wakeman said Tuesday night the county legislature passed a resolution in support
of nurses seeking to unionize at Cayuga Medical Center. Eight of the sixteen legislators are new
this year. Some of the legislators want to explore other possible locations for the center of
government, and they have looked at the Harold Square building on th e commons, a couple of
the buildings in the Cornell park and some space at the mall.
Shawna Black will serve as Chair of the legislature and Vice Chair is Deborah Dawson.
Committee assignments have not yet been announced.
Supv Leifer reviewed items for next week:
• Public Hearing on a proposed local law concerning best value procurement.
• Public Hearing on a proposed local law extending the moratorium on cryptocurrency
mining operations and data processing centers.
• Presentation by David Weinstein regarding Unique Natural Areas.
• Introduction of a local law to define data centers and cryptocurrency facilities.
Cl Lamb reported he heard from NYS DOT about the Freese Road Bridge. They have
everything they need and just need to process the replies to the permitting requirements. They
said they are shorthanded but will make a decision on when the town can put the project out
to bid as soon as possible.
Cl Lamb has reached out to Greg Stevenson about scheduling a meeting with the fire
chiefs about formation of a fire district. They are looking at the last Saturday in February.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Bambi L. Avery
Town Clerk
