Rural Youth Services Report (Athena)
• The 4-H Duck Race fundraiser will be on April 28. More information
at https://ccetompkins.org/4-h-youth/activities-events/4-h-duck-race
• Shared the OURS/Project LEAD Programing Proposal (attached)
• Shared annual reports from RYS and the OURS and RYS Dryden programs (attached)
DRYC 2024 Reorganization
• Leslie Debo was appointed as Chair. Motion: David Peck. Second: Ron Szymanski.
Approved without objection.
• David Peck was appointed as Vice Chair. Motion: Leslie Debo. Second: James Whalley.
Approved without objection.
Tompkins County Youth Services (Kate Shanks-Booth)
• Hiring a project assistant. The hope is to do some community cafes to collect information
on needs and services.
• Hiring a youth services specialist
• Will be bringing a proposal for a mental health survey.
• Reminder that mugs, notebooks, and reusable bags available from the Municipal Youth
Services System (MYSS) Networking & Recognition Event. See Marty.
Dryden Recreation Department
• Ready for summer camp. Registration opens on March 1. Six weeklong camps with space
for 40 per week.
• Dryden Little League will be taking over the 10U softball program.
• Dairy Day has asked Dryden Rec to do something specifically for middle and high school
kids.
o Asking for input and ideas
o One suggestion is a basketball tournament with boys and girls divisions for different
age groups.
These are a lot of work and will need more volunteer help to pull off.
Recreation Fields Discussion
• Delineation map (attached) shows 40 or 87 acres are wetlands. It’s possible to work around
or potentially remediate some of it. The consulting firm we select would help with
determining what can be accomplished.
• First step is RFP for firms with experience with wetlands to develop concept and designs.
• Determine what we need, what we want, what we’d like to have to help provide scope for.
• Development can be done in phases.
• Encouragement not to short ourselves.
