Stretch Code:
S Foote spoke to Chris Surgeo at NYSERTA. S Foote asked what effect the stretch code
program has on ag districts. Chris didn’t know what it effects and suggested that he get with
the planning department and have them pose the question, then will have to go to the
NYSERTA committee to get an answer. S Foote will talk to the Planning Department sometime
soon.
Questions/Comments:
• Farmers were allowed to do anything within any zoning district.
• The stretch code makes it more difficult for anyone to set up a storefront or processing
facility, etc.
• If you have a parking facility for 10 vehicles, you must have at least 2 car charging ports.
• The pipes for hot water can’t be larger than a half inch.
• In order to have larger plumbing, you would need a permit.
• Would have to put a charging port next to your driveway to charge your car.
• Would you need a 40 amp service directly for the charging port, put in whether you
have an electric car or not for a residential facility?
• How far you can run water lines?
• Are farmers going to be exempt from any of this? No.
• ANY construction would have to meet code.
3/10/2021
• If you’re renovating a farmhouse for employees, at what point does that renovation
become a code enforcing renovation?
• If you are renovating the kitchen or bathroom, does that mean you have to be putting in
the car charging port in the driveway?
S Foote is going to put together questions to be sent to the Planning Department and
Planning Board.
Other business:
The town website is being redone and each board/committee will have their own webpage. The
Ag Committee members are going to start brainstorming what they would like to see on their
webpage.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Emily Banwell
Deputy Town Clerk
