Present: Christina Dravis, Dana Magnuson, Janice Bretscher, Tony Bretscher
1. Borger Upgrades Update
a. Email sent from Jason to Don Houser, at Dominion, on March 25, 2019
requesting the installation of an oxidation catalyst on Turbine #4.
i. Response received from Don Houser - installation of oxidation
catalyst under consideration
2. CERT presentation given at Town Board Mtg. on 3-21-19
a. Article about presentation published in the Cortland Standard Newspaper
(attached below)
b. Christina has drafted a Resolution (attached below) for the Board to consider to
approve the CERT program as part of the Safety and Preparedness Committee
3. Next steps should the Board approve the CERT program
a. Establish the CERT program as a not-for-profit
b. Apply for grants/funding for the CERT program
i. Tompkins Community Foundation Grants, Park Foundation, Dominion
Energy, Walmart, Firehouse Subs, Good Neighbor Citizenship Company
Grants
c. Complete Logistics for setting up CERT program and
organizing trainings
i. Assign Responsibilities
ii. Secure Instructors
iii. Secure Training Facilities
iv. Secure Equipment
4. Organize Spring Safety classes/checks
a. Boater Safety Course
b. Bike Rodeo - bike helmet inspections
c. Citizens Preparedness Workshop?
i. One being held in Groton on 4-25-19, discussed the need for another one in
Town of Dryden in May or June, perhaps at the Varna Fire Station
5. Committee Membership Rotation
a. One member's term expires this spring. Need to appoint a new member.
