TCYS Dept Report to DRYC September 2018:
• The position announcement for Youth Services Director is out, you can find that on the County
Web site/Human Resources Dept. page.
• We are currently interviewing for a Coordinator of Youth Services; this person will work mainly
with the agencies we fund.
• County Budget Update: The County Administrator has approved all our Dept. over target
requests. If this goes through the County Legislators and is approved in the final budget this will
mean a 2% increase in your County Youth Service Funds ($652.00). In addition, the full time RYS
Assistant Coordinators position was approved. Part of this person's responsibilities will be to
provide support to the Dryden OURS program. We are all very excited about this.
• Upcoming trainings sponsored by our Dept.
o September 201h we will be hosting a Poverty Simulation. All are welcome to attend.
o October 23rd 6 PM we will be showing a film at Cinemapolis "I Am Jane Doe" about sex
trafficking bf minors.
o October 30 8:30 to 12:30 Medialiteracy by Project Look Sharp/Ithaca College
• We are currently pulling together a meeting with all Recreation
Directors/Supervisors/Coordinators in Tompkins County. This has been done in the past on a
regular basis but there has been a lot of turnover throughout the County, so it was suspended.
