run the OURS/YOURS and youth employment programs.

See attached report
- It was suggested that the Recreation program guides be delivered to all Community
Centers.
Town Board update: Dan Lamb
- The budget was passed.
o There were some very hard cuts made this year to the budget in an attempt
to prevent a large tax increase. The total budget is $7.8 million.
o The Recreation Department budget was preserved.
- D. Bravo-Cullen asked what the Recreation budget provides for in terms of
staffing.
o D. Lamb stated that the budget provides for one full time employee and two
part time employees or two full time employees.
Recreation Department report:
See attached.
Montgomery Park Revitalization Project:
- At this point, the project has slowed and there isn’t much to report
Rail to Trails Steering Committee:

- The grant has been submitted but there is a local component. The Committee is
considering trying to raise the money on their own rather than asking the local
government for help.
Review and approval of minutes from October 26, 2016:
D. Pamel moved to approve the minutes as presented. D. Bravo-Cullen seconded the
motion and the minutes were unanimously approved.
County Youth Services: Kris Bennett
- The County has allotted $627 more than projected for Dryden Youth Services. K.
Bennett was advised to provide that information to J. Case (Town Bookkeeper).
Recreation Director search:
- The Town Board has appointed a committee to begin searching.
o The two Town Board members will be Linda Lavine and Kathy Servoss.
o C. Haferkamp-Wise is working on getting a couple community members.
o Former Commission member Sharon Todd is not able to serve but she will
happily help the committee get started.
o C. Haferkamp-Wise and S. Mulinos are the Commission representatives to
the committee. S. Mulinos agreed to lead the committee.
- S. Mulinos said that she would like the committee to meet once to determine the
parameters for the position – the key skills and qualities that we want in the
position.
o Since this is a Civil Service position, the committee is tied to the eligible
candidates that have taken the test. Therefore, they do not have to do a lot
of recruiting at the beginning.
o Once they have decided on candidates, they will conduct interviews – they
will develop questions for the interviews.
o S. Mulinos believes allotting two hours per interview will give the committee
enough time and is hoping that they can do the interviews in mid-February.
- D. Bravo-Cullen questioned why the Commission/Town feels we need to hire a
director.
o D. Lamb feels that we need a director to generate the data requested by the
Town Board, to create a recreation plan, a recreation needs assessment,
surveys to determine the quality of our programs, etc.
o The coordinator should be maintaining the programming and keeping the
department functioning. The director is the position that does the future
planning.
December meeting:
- Due to holiday plans, the December meeting was cancelled.
- Tentatively, January 7th 9-12AM will be the retreat planning day.
