Dryden Agriculture Advisory Committee
November 9, 2016
Members Present: Evan Carpenter (Chair), Kim LaMotte, Doug Barton, Brian Magee, and Joe Osmeloski
Liaisons Present: John Kiefer (Planning Board) and Craig Schutt (Conservation Board)
Guests: Debbie Teeter, Cornell Cooperative Extension
The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM.
The Committee reviewed the draft Ag Protection Plan.
Comments:
- There are only three farms in Dryden that are still shipping milk – the Becks, the Shermans and
the Allens.
- The Commission discussed what farms qualify as 50 or 100 year farms.
- K. LaMotte questioned the combined payroll of 3 million dollars (Economic Value of Farming
section). A discussion regarding the number of workers, their potential wages, etc was held and
Debbie indicated she will verify the information.
- Debbie has asked George Frantz to review and rewrite his section on the zoning.
- E. Carpenter asked about including information regarding solar facilities and the impact they
could have on farming and farm land.
Debbie is going to keep working on the draft, updating it with Dryden information and suggested
adjustments.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
Erin A. Bieber
