The Zoning Board. of Appeals met on June 4, 1985 with members
N. LaMotte, D. Rose, Chr. B. Keech, and Zoning Officer S.Stewart
present. Meeting called to order by Chr.B.Keech at 7:30 P.M.
• HEARING I 7 : 35 P. Me
Public Hearing to consider application of Norman Padula to
build a one family dwelling on Pleasant Hollow Road and is
requesting a variance to Sec. 803 of the Town Ordinance which
requires a lot have at least 125' of frontage on a public road.
B.Keech---I don't see very many people sitting back there to
speak either for or against granting of this variance.
You want to build a house. Now, I didn't get too
much from this drawing. The reason you need. this
variance is that you don't have frontage on a town
road, is that right?
N.Padula -- There is only 50' of road frontage & I know there
Is 125' required.
B.Keech-- -That doesn't border on Mineah Road through there?
N.Padula -- No,altho that 50'f rontage also borders on my
brother's property and the 26.84 acres is co -owned
by him as well.
B.Keech---Do you plan to put more than one house there?
• N.Padula-- No,only one for my family.
B.Keech-- -Where do you live now?
N.Padula - -I have an apartment house on N.Aurora St. in Ithaca,
which I plan to keep for added income.
Introduction of 'members. No one present to speak for or against
variance. B.Keech asked for any questions.
D.Rose--- -If this adjoining land is owned by your brother
why are you only taking 50'?
N.Padula -- The piece owned by him is right here.(Showing the
map). If I were to take the extra piece I would
have to get into Thomas's property.
D. Rose--- -I see. Was all this originally Thomas property?
N.Padula - -No, it was the Lloyd Mix tract. He subdivided this
section for my brother and I and this for Thomas. The
Thomas land is mostly tillable land..
D. Rose--- -Yours isn't farm land?
N.Padula- -Ours is woods from here back and this is a field.
Site for our house is here at the edge of the woods.
B.Keech---I don't see any problems for granting a variance
on this. You have sufficient right of way., in fact,
if you had ten more feet, you could put in a road.
• But certainly, that's sufficient width for emergency
vehicles etc. Are you ready'to vote on this?
D.Rose - - - -I think we should put somet ing like we have in the
past in the motion.
B.Keech-- -Like a stipulation saying only one dwelling would
be built there & there would not be any services
from the Highway Dept;
D.Rose- ---Yes,that would cover it.
D.Rose made a motion to grant the variance with the above
stipulations. Seconded by N.LaMotte.
VOTE ALL YES VARIANCE GRANTED
B.Keech-- -We'll write up a notice of decision with those
stipulations.
HEARING II 7 : 4.5 P. M.
Pi.blic Hearing to consider application of Robert Geiger
to extend his building for a work shop at 298 Cortland Road
and is requesting a variance to Sec.804 of Town Zoning Ordinance
• which requires that a building be at (least 70'•-feet from the road
center line.
B. Keech---No one is present to speak 'peither for
variance needed for road set back. He
from Livermore Rd. Are there any questions?
or against
only has 57'
N.LaMotte - -Is there any possibility of moving it closer to
Route 13 and using up theextra footage you have
there?
B.Geiger - -- No,because I want to build on the Livermore
of the existing building. There is a paint
the Route 13 side and I would still need a
there. I really need the extra width too.
N.LaMotte -- Alright, I see.
B.Keech--- -I see no problems.
