CITIZENS ` : PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR
Representatives from McLean Fire District spoke relative to the formation
of said district . Petitions were filed with the Town Clerk of Dryden a
week ago . They requested that the Town Boards of Dryden and Groton hold a
joint public hearing . Consensus of the board was that they were opposed to
holding a public hearing outside the limits of the Town of Dryden . Supr
McCord read a memo addressed to the Town Board from Attorney Amdur indi -
cating that the Town of Groton is agreeable to setting up a hearing on
She question on its own motion , in lieu of proceeding on the petitions .
the memo further stated that such public hearing must be held jointly with
the Town of • Dryden , in the event that the Dryden Town Board. also decides
to : proceed on its own motion . The Board agreed to meet with the Town Board
of Groton at a public hearing , but also wanted to schedule a public hearing
in Dryden for the Town of Dryden residents who propose to be in this
district . There was a question as to whether or in fact the Board can hold
their own public hearing if they go along with Groton which they have to
do under this set of circumstances . Supr McCord said he would take to
Atty McDermott and raise the question to him and get an answer .

it would be a nice gesture on the part of the town if they could afford
