The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was called to
order by Supervisor Gridley at 8 p . m . Present were Clm . Baker and
Saltonstall , Justices Hoagland and Spaulding , Assessor Abrams , and
Deputy Highway Supt . Case .
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved .
Mov&. by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that General
bills totaling $408 . 16 , and Youth Bills totaling $ 215 . 00 , be paid as
audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Moved by Ulm . Baker , seconded by Clm . Saltonstall , that Highway bills
totaling $ 291 . 97 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Justice Hoagland offered the following resolution and moved its adop -
tion : WHEREAS funds are low in Highway Fund Item 3 , BE IT RESOLVED
that $ 250 . 00 be transferred from GenerKal Fund to Highway Fund. Item3 .
Seconded by Justice Spaulding . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baker , that the Inspectors
of Election receive the same salary as last year - $ 1C00 for Election
Day , $ 1 . 00 plus 8 ¢ per mile one way for the school of instruction
meeting , and $ 1 . 00Cper hour for registration}. days . Motion carried
and so ordered .
Moved by Justice Hoagland , seconded by Clm . Baltonstall , that Charles
Downey and Charles McGory be appointed custodians of voting machines
for the Town of Dryden , at a remuneration not to exceed $ 70 . 00 each .
Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Supervisor Gridley advised that he had met with the fire commissioners
at South Lansing , and that they had set up a tentative areafor that
company to cover in the northwest corner of the Town of Dryden .
The communication to the five companies with which contracts have been
made in the past , _tgx with reference to new contradts, was read .
Mr . Gridley will make any necesary arrangements for a public hearing
on the new contracts .
Residents of the Etna area have submitted a petition for increased
street lighting in the Etna Lighting District . Justice Hoagland
moved that the following Order be adopted in the matter :
WHEREAS , a written petition dated September 8 , 1960 , was hereto -
for and on October 3 , 1960 , duly filed with this Board pursuant to
Section 198 of the Town Law of the State of New York , for improvement
and installation of lighting equipment in the Etna Lighting District ,
in said Town , on Main Street ( route 366 ) , and Etna Lane at the Bridge ,
in said Town ; and
WHEREAS , it duly 'Tappears thatl_ such' petition . ' has been duly
signed by ' th& owners of . r-eal :estate-- . owning at _ - least onef'ha f ' of the
entire frontage or bounds on the highways in said Lighting District4and
WHEREAS , such petition was duly acknowlddged or proved by all
the signers thereof in the same manner as a deed to be recorded ; and
WHEREAS , the maximum amount proposed to be expended for said
improvement is in sum of $ 685 . 28 ; it is , pursuant to the provisions
of said Town Law , hereby
ORDERED that the Town Board of the Town of Dryden , Tompkins
County , New York , shall meet at the Dryden Town Hall in said Town on
the 2nd day of November 1960 , at 8 : 30 o ' clock p . m . in the evening
of that day ; for the purpose of considering the said petition , and
hearing all persons interested in the subject thereof , concerning
the same .
Motion seconded by Clm . Baker . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Clm . Saltonstall offered the following Resolution and moved its
adoption :
RESOLVED , that this Town Board does hereby prepare and approve
as the Prelimi@ary Budget of this Town for the fiscal year beginning
on the 1st day of January , 1961 , the itemized statement of estimated
revenues and expenditures hereto attached and made a part of this
resolution , and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED ; that such preliminary budget shall be . filed in
the office of the Todh Clerk where it shall be available for inspection
by any interested person at all reasonable hours , and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED , that this Board shall meet at 8 : 00 o ' clock p . m .
on the 4th day of November , 1960 , for the purpose of holding a public
hearing upon such preliminary budget , and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Town Clerk give notice of such public
hearing in the manner provided in Section 113 of the Town Law , and that
such notice be published and posted in substantially the following form :
NOTICE OF HEARING UPON PRELIMINARY BUDGET
Notice is hereby given that the preliminary budget of the
Town of Dryden for the fiscal year beginning January 1 , 1961 , has .
been completed and filed in the office of the Town Clerk at
Dryden , where it is available for inspection by any interested
person at all reasonable hours .
Further notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the
Town of Dryden will meet and review said preliminary budget and
hold a public hearing thereon , at the Town Office between the
hours of 8 : 00 p . m . and 9 : 00 pm . on the 4th day of November , 1960 ,
and that at such hearing any person may be heard in favor of or
against the prelini0ary budget as compiled , or for or against any
item or items therein contained .
Pursuant to Section 113 of the Town Law , the proposed salaries .
of the following Town officers are hereby specified as follows :

WHEREAS , the New York State Natural Gas Corporation ias filed
a petition in application for an assessment review , •
BE IT RESOLVED that the firm of Thaler and Thaler be authorized
to appear on behalf of the Town and of the Town Assessor in the petition
for reviews of assessment filed by New York State Natural Gas Corp .
in the Supreme Court , Tompkins County , and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Clerk be instructed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the firm of Thaler and Thaler .

Suggestion was made by Assessor Abrams that the Town subscribe to
the Ithaca Journal and Rural News , so that a scrap book of pertinent
items can be kept in the Town Office . Decision made to subsribe to
Rural News only .
