February 4 , 1957
The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was
held at the Town Office Building on Feb . 4 , 1957 at 7 : 30 P . M .
Present were : Supervisor Gridley , Justices Shaw , Spaulding
Councilman Baker; and Highway Supt . Beach .
The minutes ,, of the January meeting were read for information .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding that the
General bills totaling $ 1 , 124 . 77 , the Health bills of $ 5 . 00 , and
Youth Project bills of $ 24 . 03 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote ,
All voting Yes .
Moved by Councilman Baker , seconded by Justice Spaulding ,
that the Highway Bills totaling $ 1 , 628 . 62 be paid as audited .
Roll call vote , .A11 voting Yes : `
` A communication was read from Mrs . Hugh Holley asking that
the name of Monkey Run Road be changed to " Hollawood Lane " . Road
signs and names are being considered and the name presented will
be considered .
Mo#ed ^by Justice Shaw , seconded 'by Councilman Baker that
` Whereas : The deputy Town Clerk , Mrs . Fortner became ill and was
unable to act , and whereas , assistance was neededaby the Town
Clerk , Be it resolved that Jane Gridley be appointed Deputy Town
Clerk , r' etro active to January " 1 , 1957 . Roll call vote , all voting
Yes .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding that .
the following Resolution be approved : Transfer of Highway moneys :
Whereas , ' Highway Fund Item #1 , Division of Erwin project #2723
should have paid ' to Highway Fund Item#3 during the 1956 work ' '
program for Machinery rental and Whereas , this was an over- sight ,
and
` was unnoticed until the Supervisor ' s report was prepared and
Whereas , the Supervisor made the necessary adjustment in his
records ; of $ 526 . Roll call vote , all voting Yes .
,Justice Shaw reported his findings of the voting districts ,
The Supervisor suggested that this be given more consideration
and study , also the cost of a voting machine and reported on at
the next meeting .
Supervisor Gridley reported that he had been contacted by
Mr . Paul SnyderQregarding building a new road for two new homes

off the Ellis Hollow road . The matter was tabled for further
C investigation,
A discussion followed regarding a pond on the Arthur Prince.
property on Snyder Hill road .

The next meeting will be held on Monday evening , Mar . 4 , at 7 : 30
P . M .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by justice Spaulding that
this meeting adjourn . Carried .

the Town Office Building , on Mar . 4 , 1957 at 7 : 30 P . M .
Present were : Supervisor Gridley , , Justices , Shaw , Spaulding ,
Whitford , Councilman Baker , Highway Supt . Beach , and Assessor Abrams .
The minutes of the February meeting were read for information .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding that the
General bills tokaiing $406 . 87 , the Health bill of $ 5 . 00 , and the
Youth Project bills of $ 323 . 13 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote ,
All voting YES .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that
the Highway bills totaling $ 1 , 735 . 65 , be paid as audited . Roll call
vote takeh , all voting YES .
'iletter from the Automatic Voting Machine Corp . was read
stating the price of a new voting machine was $1412 , F . O . B . Jamestown
N . Y . with transportation to Drydeh being app . $ 15 . 00 ..
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Councilman Baker that Justice
Shaw continue with his Committee . ad remap ' the voting District #1 ,
and bring in the recommendations , for approval , and The Town Board
will back the committee for the new district for next year . Carried .

A_ request for appointment for Town Constable was read from
James A . Murray . Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Councilman Baker
that the Town Clerk notify Mr . Murray that the Town Board feels that
they have a sufficient number of constables , and because of Bonding
expense , it is not advisable to appoint more constables at this time .
Carried .
£ communication from John L . Post , Welfare Commissioner was read
stating that if the Town had a work project , Ernest Maxwell and
Benjamin Van De Mark of Freeville , R . D . #2 , could be used . Supervisor
Gridley being Service Officer , this situation was left for him to .
decide what to do .
