Home My WebLink About1956-11-07 233 November 7 , 1956 The regular monthly meeting of the Dryden Town Board was held at the Town Office Building , Wednesday evening , Nov . 7 , 1956 at 7 : 30P Present were ; Supervisor Gridley , Justices Shaw , Spaulding , and Whitford , Councilman Baker , Highway Sup16 . Beach , & assessor Abrams . Minutes of the October meetings weer read for information . Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding that the General Bills totaling 01 , 542 . 87 , The Health Bills of 4 37 , 50 , and the Youth Project Bills of .4 430 , 35 be paid as audited . Roll call vote taken , ALL voting YES . Moved by Justice Whitford , saconded by Councilman Baker that the Highway Bills totaling 02559 . 36 be paid as audited . Roll call vote taken , All voting YES . The notice of the public hearing on the Preliminary Budget as published , was reed . Present were Dr . Robert A . McKinney , Editor Arlton K . Fletcher , Messrs . Rex Poso , Floyd Hatfield , and Keith Hatfield . Dr . McKinney asked for an explanation on why the Salaries were increased', especially the Justices . Justice Whitford explained his duthies . Justices Spaulding and Shaw explained their side of the Justices work . Dr . McKinney asked about the Assessor ' job and Assessor Abrams explained his duties and what had been done what was to be done . The Town Clerk and Highway Supt . explained their duties and change in salary . Supervisor Gridley expressed his thanks to these gentlemen for their interest . As the hearing closed thesvisitors departed and the board meeting contineed the regular business . Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Spaulding that 4 700 . 00 be transferred from General Fund to Item 3 , Highway . Roll call vote takeb , All voting YES . Justice Shaw ° offered the following) resolution and asked its adoption : RESOLVED , that the Town Board of the Town of Dryden does hereby sponsor Four Youth Recreational Projects as approved by the NEWtYORK STATE Youth Commission , as requested by the Bethel Grove Community Home ; Etna Community ; Varna Community ; Association ; and Ellis Hollow Community . Seconded by Justice Spaulding . Roil call vote , all voting YES . The Fall Road Tour was set for Monday , Nov . 12 , starting at 3 : 00 P . M . from Justice Spauldings . 234 . An application was read from August Thiede for dog enumerator for 1957 dog census . Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded. by Justice Spaulding that August Thiede be appointed dog enumerator for 1956 - 57 . Motion carried . - Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Shaw that the application of Herbert Brecht for a junk yard license be tabled till the December meeting . M . at the Town OfficeBldg . Present were •; Supervisor Gridley , Justices Spaulding , Shaw , and Whitford , Councilman Baker , Assessor Abrams , & Highway Supt . • • Beach . The Preliminary Budget was reviewed and amended . Justice Whitford offered the following resolution and asked its adoption : . • WHEREAS , this Town Board has met at the time and place specified in the notice of public hearing on the preliminary budget and heard all persons desiring to be heard thereon ; now therefore , be it RESOLVED , that this Town Board does hereby adopt such prelim- inary budget as amended , as the annual budget of this Town for the . fiscal year beginning On the ist day of January , 1957 and that such budget as so adopted be entered in detailitn the minutes of the proceedings of this Town Board , and be it FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Town Clerk of this Town shall prepare • and certify , in duplicate , copies of said annual budget as adopted by this Town Board , together with the estimates , if any , adopted pursuant to Section 202 - a , subd . 2 , of the Town Law and deliver one copy thereof to the Supervisor of this Town to be presented by him to the Board of Supervisors of this county . .
