April 3 , 1956 ..
The regular monthly meeting, of the Dryden Town Board was held
at the Town Office Building Tuesday evening , April 3 , 1956 at
7 : 30 P . M .
Present were Supervisor Gridley , Justices Baker , Shaw , Spaulding
and Whitford ; Highway Supt . Beach and A ssessor Abrams .
The minutes of the March meetings were read for information .

Moved , by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that the
General bills totaling 41 , 125 . 22 and the Youth Project bills of
474 . 27 be paid as audited . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Baker , that the
Highway bills totaling 02 , 742 . 02 , be paid as audited . Roll call vote ,
all voting YES .
Mr . Schwan was present and the condition of his road was disa
cussed . Supt . Beach informed him that he would repair it as soon
as possible .
Since the road tour was not held in March , the date of April 12th
at 9 : 00 A . M . was decided upon for the tour .
Moved by Justice Whitford , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that
the Town Road men be granted a 10 ¢ an hour increase in pay , effective
April 2nd . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
One bid was received for a Deisel Power Shovel from the Syracuse
Supply Company . The price submitted was 419 , 420 . 00 , less trade - in for
present shovel 42 , 920 . 00 . Net price F . O . B . Dryden , N . Y . P 16 , 500 . 00 .
Cash discount 4300 . 00 ; net cash price 416 , 200 . 00 . An electric starting
attachment for an extra 4250 . 00 .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Justice Baker , that this
Shovel , plus the electric starter attachment , be purchased from the
Syracuse Supply Company , delivery to be made April 11th . Roll call
vote taken , all voting YES ,
The next regular Board meeting will be held May 2 , 1956 .
A letter was read from D . B . Harrington requesting a black top
surface on the lower creek road extending from Etna village to the
Hanshaw road near the Brick school . Justice Whitford suggested that the
letter be . tabled until April 12th .
A delegation from Etna was present to discuss the condition of
the lower creek road .

Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Whitford , that
Supervisor Gridley and Justice Whitford act as a committee to
apiro
investigate # - purchase 5r a used car , price not to exceed $ 500 . 00 ,
and report at next meeting . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Moved by Justice Shaw , seconded by Justice Whitford , that the
Insurance of Town Highway tools and small equipment be increased
to $ 5 , 000 . 00 . Roll call vote , all voting YES .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Justice Whitford ,
that Grant Abrams be granted p ermission to attend the Assessor ' s
school at Rochester , N . Y . April 16 - 17 - 18 . Carried and so ordered .
The minutes of this meeting were read , corrected and approved .
Moved by Justice Spaulding , seconded by Justice Shaw , that
this meeting adjourn , Carried .

April 12 , 1956 . Spring Road Tour .
The annual spring road tour was held April 12 th at 9 : 00 A . M .
Supervisor Gridley , Justices Baker , Spaulding and Whitford and Supt .
of Highway Beach made the tour .
They returned to the Town Office Building and County' Supt . of
Highway Miller met with them for a short meeting .
After a discussioar . over ' th'e amount of traffic on several roads
in the township , Justice Whitford moved that . the Highway Supt . purchase
a Traffic Counter , price not to exceed 05 . 00 . This was seconded by
Justice Spaulding . Roll call vote taken , All voting YES .
Moved by Justice Baker , seconded by Justice Spaulding , that the
agreement for the expenditure of Highway monies between the Supt . of
Highway and the Town Board be approved . Roll call vote , All voting YES .
The minutes were read and approved .
On motion meeting adjourned .

ic Some owners were contacted and it was understood that
they did not want a black top 4gmt surface on the lower
creek road extending from Etna village to the Hanshaw road
near the Brick school . So this issue was tabled for further
investigation .
