Moved by Justice Whitford. and . s-econdddbily
Justice Shaw that the board adopt the resolution which
• was presented and Published in the Rural ' ew Feb , _4 ,
1953 . It is as follows :
j+1e the undersigned , committee for the Town Board
of Dryden , Dryden , New York , throug h your col1J wish to
121
bring to the attention of the taxpayers the trend of
thought in your Town Board .
•
The Town of Dryden at this time owns475 , 000 . 00
worth of necessary . equipment to carry on present specif
icationsfor reed building . Under the present housing
accommodations for equipment , we have the old land mark
. the Fair House , which is in need of a great deal , of
repair , and unable to heat at any cost .
The Town Board has discussed the possibility
of taking down this build:ing, and using, the ,material that
could besalvagedto heipin building, an addition on the
present garage . Our thought isthat we would build five
stalls on the north sideof this building made of cinder
or cement blocks and use the salvagefrom the fair house
for the roof , frameaand posts , three of these stalls to be
par.titionedooff to beheated along with. . the present •
building , the remainder to be used to house the equip -
ment that doesriot need to be used in the winter months .
One of these stalls is to have an opening to
house the trailer which has to staid out the year round
due to not having a doorway where it can pass thru .
Also in the Fair House ' much of the machinery has to be
moved in order to - get the other machinery out .
if this building is erected , it will be done
tinder: the same system used in building the office . It
would be under the supervision of a , building committee
and the Highway Superintendent . Town , help would be used
as much as possihle in order to keep cost down . This
addition can be erected without any increase in taxes .
No farmer can afford to :buy high priced
equipment , then house it outdoors and we don ' t believe fl
the Town is any different. . Therefore , for the protec -
tion of the Town of Dryden ' s •highway 'tr equipment we pre -
sent the following , and ask that the 'Town Board author-
ize the removal pf the Round Muse that it may be used
to further . the betterment of the taxpayer ' s interest .
That with care and Supervision of the Town Board and the
%uperintefident of-- Highways , the said round house be sal -
vaged to meet 50 percent of the cost , or build the up-
right portionof a five sta11 , 106 feet long , 40 feet deep
aarage , the total cost with the t,owxx Highway and the
Town Board employment furnished not to exceed 45000 : the
doors and floor to .be put in at a later date at . extra cost
