The regular meeting of the Town Board of
the Town of Dryden was held at the Town Office Bldg
January 2, 1953 at 7 : 30 p . m .
Present were Sup ervisor Downey , Superintend -
ento of Highways Stacy Beach , Justices Spaulding , Baker
Whitford and Shaw . . Supervisor Downey presided .

Justice Baker that all Highway bills amounting to 4x
1073 . 18 be paid as audited . Roll call vote . All Just -
ices voting YES

RESOLVEDMEREX WHiRE AS , the cdat :15f Foffiata

years due to • the increase ;.' in the amount of the tax
warrent and -
WHEREAS THE county lreasurercollects ailcor-
poration taxes therefore this - moneycan never be handled
bythe Town Collector .
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVEDthat this board go
on record as favoring a revision of the- bonding law
whereby the amount of the bond of the Town Collector
be fixed at an amount not in excessof the maneytto
be handled by said Collector regardless of the
amount of the Tax Warrent , and that the feefor the
• same be fixed at theminimum rate set up in the present
law for full coverage of the tax warrent .

Justice Whitford that the Tompkins County Rural
News be designated as the official newspaper for
the Town of Dryden during the year 1953 .
Carried and so ordered .
Moved byJustice Spaulding and seconded by
Justice Whitford that the regular monthly meetings
of the Town Board for the year ' 1953w111 be held
on the 3rd of each month or as near the 3rd as
possiblex as aszreedu upon by the Board . Meetings
to be called at 7 : 30 p . m . Motion carried .
Moved by Justice Shaw and seconded by Jus -
tice Spaulding that Harold • lou.gh serve as Chair-
man of the Board of Assessors . Motion Carried. .
Moved by Justice Shaw and second ed by
Justice Whitford that mileage fee for Town officals
be set for x . 08 cents per mile . This applyesto
the assessors acting on c: o` - cases and to the Town
6lerk when delivering election and primary supplied

` ELIMINATE THE FIFTH JUSTICE OF THE PEACE IN
THE TOWN ODRYDEN . . •
WHEREAS by chapter 575 of the laws of . 1881
the town was_ authorized to elect an additional '
Justice of the Peace . besides the number of

justices:"Bellowed by the general laws of the
State ofNew York ; and whereas.emI124s5boa .rd t

er a need foe five "•ustices of the peace ; and

RESOLVED that this board hereby request
the enactment of the 1 egislation which will
eliminate the additthbnalj justice of the peace
to the town of Dryden and provide that the said
• Town will hereafter be governed by the general
laws pertaining to this subject :
AN BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT CERTIFIED
copies be sent by the clerk to Assemblyman Ray
C Ashberry and Senator- elect Dutton S . Peterson .
and that they • be requested to introduce abill
which will accomplish this purpose _. thererof

Moved By Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice
Spauldingthat the time payment of the officrs ' salaries
are as follows : Supervisor , town Clerk and Justice s
Spaulding and Whitford the first of each month , the bal -
ance of the Justices , every three months . the first being
on , the first of April . th @hairms:n of the Board of Assess -
ors to be paid one half of his salary at the beginning
of the7th month or Julylst , the balance at the comple -
tion of his books .
The other two assessors are to receive $ 350
at the beginning of the 7 th month or the 1st of `July ,
the balance to be paid at the discretion of the Town
Board .
Recommended that 64200 be placed. in the budget
th for the salary of the Superintendent of Highways and
