HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-09-05 57 SEPTEMBER=: 51, 1950 The regular monthly meeting of the TowmBoard of the Town of Dryden was held on September 5 , 1950 at 8 : 00 P . M . Present were Supervisor Charles Downey , Hwy , Supt . Stacy Beach; and Justices Alvord Baker , Ara Johnson , Dewey Whitford and Francis Shaw ;. Supervisor Downey presiding . The minutes of the August 3rd . meeting were read for information only . Mr August Kozel of Freeville R D # 1 was present to discuss with the Members of the Board the condition of West End:: . Road , This road will be included on the Fall road tour . Moved by Justice Shaw and seconded by Justice Baker that the General bills totaling $ 4332 , 27 plus the Bethel Grove youth project bill of $ 2 , 99 and the Varna Community Assoc . bills of 131 , 50 be paid as audited . Carried by a roll call vote , I/ All Justices voting Yes . Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Johnson thpt the Highway bills totaling 4 4024 . 21 be paid as - audited . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting Yes , Members of the Board approved an Insurance Policy for 4000 , on the New Town Building , written by the Dryden and Groton Co - operative Fire Insurance Company . Letters were read from Ralph Cochran , Zeman Road , Freeville RD# 1 and Mrs Hugh Holley , Monkey Run road , Ithaca , RD# 2 in regards to the condition of the respective roads . Both roads are to be included on the Fall road tour . Also a letter from the New York Good Roads Association announcing . a meeting to be held at Bibbins Hall orr. September 6th . was read . Members of the Board set Sept . 16th . at 9 : 00 A . M . for the Fall road :" tour ; Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Whitford that the Hwy . Supt . Stacy- Beach be permitted to attend the State Town Supt ' s . Convention at Syracuse , N . Y . on Sept ; . 20th . and 21st , Carried and so ordered . The Building Committee reported that the New Town Office Building was completed at an Approximate Cost of. $ 8800 . 00 ; In as much as there was $ 1000 . saved on the construction of the New Town Building , Justice Whitford offered the following resolution and asked its adoption; : That the Supervisor Charles Downey and the Town Clerk , Lois Beck be empowered_ to buy the nee:Pe ssary, furniture and- equipment for the New Building nola: to exceed $ 1000; . Seconded by Justice Baker ; The next monthly meeting will be held on October 2nd ; at 7 : 30 P . M. .
