HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-04-05 APRIL 5 . 1948 The regular monthly meeting of the Town Board of _ the Town: of Dryden was held at the Town Clerks office, on April 5 , 1948 at 7 : 00 P . M . Present were Supervisor Charles G . Downey , Hwy . Supt . Stacey - Beach and Justices Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , Alvord Baker , An Johnson and Dewey Whitford.. Supervisor Downey presiding ; The minutes of the meeting held on March 1 , 1948 were read for information ; Mr and Mrs William E . Hinton of Ithaca , N . Y . R D 1 were present to discuss with the Members of the Board the problem that exists fvmm: the dumping of rubbish on the Dryden- Lansing Town line ✓ oad near their property . After a discussion it was decided that the Supervisor act as a Committee of One to contact the Supervisor of the Town of Lansing and ask for co - operation on a program to end this nuisance ; - The Clean-up - program for the Town of Dryden *as again dis - cussed ; .This program is being delayed because of the difficulty . of o btaining suitable places for the disposal of the rubbish ; As soon as places can be found this program will be carried out ; , % Mr Barnum of Burdett , N . Y . was present to discuss with the Board the pperations of a Portable Crushing Unit made by the Acme Road Machinery Company of Frankfort , N . Y . The Highway Supt ; Stacy Beach having recommended the purchase of the Stone Crusher , it was moved. by Justice Cornelius and seconded by Justice Spaulding that on April 14th . at 8 : 00 P . M . at the Town Clerks office a Public Hearing be held on the purchase of said equipment ; Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting - -Yes; . Mr Charles H . Newman , - County Attorney , was present to report to the Board the progress made in clearing the Title to the West Dryden church property.; Justice- Johnson moved to recind the motion on the record as a part of the March 1st . meeting ; Seconded . by Justice Cornelius ; that the Attorney be instructed to continue proceeding to clear the Title o f said property at a fee not in excess of $ 250 . 00 ; Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Cornelius that the Town of Dryden , employ. mn# Nottingham ,: Clymer , Smith-. and= . Paltz ; Attornies of Syracuse , N . Y . to clear the Title to the West Dryden Church property for a fee of '4 300 ; 00 plus the necessary disbursements . Carried and so ordered . Moved by Justice Spaulding nad seconded by Justice Cornelius that the General bills totaling 757 ; 20 be paid as audited ; Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting - - Yes . . . Moved by Justice Johnson and seconded by Justice Whitford that the Highway bills totaling 0 790 ; 56 be paid as audited . Carried by a roll call vote ; All Justices voting - -Yes . Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Johnson that the Town of Dryden advertise for Bids on ate. ton Pick-up truck fotr the Highway department . Present were Supervisor Charles G . Downey , Hwy ; Supt ; Stacy Beach and Justices Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , 4Da Johnson and Dewey Whitford:; Notice of the Public Hearing as published was read , , at 8 : 00 P . M . to.cLopensmcetin ;1PuBl c hearing declared closed at 9 : 15; Supervisor reported to the Board that he had contacted the Supervisor of the Town of Lansing and the owner of the property that :-_is ilbeingru'sedsas aplace to dump rubbish near the William Hinton property- on the Dryden- Lansing Town line road ; Plans will be carried out to correct this nmisance . The agreements for the expenditure of Highway monies for the year 1948 as drafted by the County Highway Supt ; Bert I . Vann. and Town Hwy . Supt ; Stacy Beach were found acceptable and signed by the members of the Town Board . . It was agreed that the Emery Baker Hill Cemetery should be restored this year ; Justice. Cornelius asked that the Mulks Cemetery on the Ellis Hollow road also be restored . Moved by Justice Whitford and seconded by Justice Spaulding that the Town pay cash . without issuing certificates for the Portable Stone Crusher purchased from the Acme Road Machinery Co ; of Frankfort , N . Y . Carried and so ordered . The next Regular monthly meeting will be held on May 3 , 1948 at 8 : 00 P . M . , • Moved by. Justice Spaulding and seconded by Justice Whitford that the Town advertise for sale the Warco rubberetired grader and the Monarch 10 ton steam roller in the Ithaca Journal • and The Post Standard for three ( 3 ) insertions ; Carried and so .ordered; • On. moti.on by Justice Cornelius and a second by Justice Johnson the meeting was adjourned . .
