December 2 , 1947

The Regular Monthly meeting of- the Town of Dryden was heldt
at the Town Clerks office on December 2 , 1947 at 8 : 00 P . M * .
Present were Supervisor Charles G . Downey , Hwy . Supt . Stacy
Beach and Justices Harry Spaulding , Oirie Cornelius , Alvord Baker ,
Millard Hoagland and Ara Johnson . Also present was Dewey Whitford ,
Supervisor Downey presiding .
The minutes of the November 6th , meeting were read and
III approved; .
A motion was made by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice
Johnson that the General billa = totaling $ 190 : 41 be paid as audited ,
Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting - - -Yes ..
A motion was made by Justice Cornelius and seconded by
Justice Johnson that the Highway bills totaling $ 1248 , 62 be paid
as audited . Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting - -Yes ,
A motion was made by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice
Hoagland that the First National Bank of Dryden , Dryden , N . Y. be
designated as the depository for the Town monies for the year 1948 ;
Carried and so ordered ;.
The following Constables were duly appointed for the period
of One year ; Ira Reed , Ithaca , N . Y . R2 , Edward C . Weiser , Etna , N . Y . ;
Randall Smith , Freeville , N . Y . ; Hugh Foster , Dryden , N . Y . Carried and
so ordered ;
A motion was made by Justice Spaulding and seconded by
Justice Hoagland that all checks and bills be issued by Dec`; 16th .
1947 . Carried and so ordered .
The Members of the Town Board of the Town of Dryden
designated December 30th . as Annual Audit Day . Meeting to be held
at 9 : 00 A . M . at the Town Clerks office ;
Moved by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Baker
that the following Resolution be accepted . RESOLUTION No : 1
RESOLVED , that the Supervisor be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to make necessary arrangments with the
County Treasurer to have all available excess funds in the hands
of the County Treasurer to the credit of the Town of Dryden applied
to reduce the amount of taxes to be leived for the 1948 budget ;
Carried by a roll call vote . All Justices voting - -Yes .
Moved by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Spaulding
that Resolution No 11 in regards to the Welfare Fund be recinded ,
this Resolution was placed on record Nov . 6th :
Moved by Justice Hoagland and seconded by Justice Johnson -
that the following Resolution be adopted; RESOLUTION No . 111
WHEREAS , the Supervisor has in his hands surplus funds

RESOLVED that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized

to reduce the amount of taxes to be leived for the 1948 budget ;

Justice Cornelius nominated Justice Baker to act as Chairman - of
the Audit Board , seconded by Justice Spaulding . I

and Hwy . Supt . Stacy Beach were checked . All Justices dockets ; •
were inspected and checked ; V
A motion was made by Justice Johnson and seconded 4
by Justice Spaulding that the books be accepted as audited . .

Mr Malcolm Freeborn , educational advisor of the
George Junior Republic School explained the need for Educational = .
