The Regular Monthly, meetingTof_,the Town Board of the
Town of Dryden was held at the Town Clerks Office on January 4 , 1947(
at 8 : 00 P . M ,
Present were Supervisor Downey , Hwy . Supt , Beach and
Justices C . Harry Spaulding , Orrie Cornelius , Alvord - Baker , Millard
Hoagland and Ara Johnson: Supervisor Downey presiding:
The minutes of the last regular meeting were read for
information and the minutes of the special meeting held on Dec : 28 ,
1947 were , read and approved..
Amotion was made by Justice Baker and seconded by Justice
Spaulding that the General bills totaling $ 372 . 78 be accepted as
read; Carried by a roll call vote ; All Justices voting - - -Yes;
A motion was made by Justice Cornelius and seconded by
Justice Johnson that the Highway bills totaling p 1764: 51 be accepted
as read ; Carried by a roll call vote : All Justices voting - - - -Yes :
A letter from Edward F . N . tithe , Exec': Sod; .Y$ of the Ass ` n':
of Towns was read giving the dates of Feb`: Ieth:. , 2Otht and 2lst
1947 for the Annual Meetingof the Association: Justice Spaulding
nominated Charles Downey , Supervisor , as the Delegate from the Town
of Dryden to this meeting , nomination seconded by JusticeCornelius
Lois H . Beck , Town Clerk to act as alternate : Carried and so ordered;
A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by drtet
Justice Spaulding that William B . Strong be appointed Chairman of the
Board of Assessors: Carried and so ordered;
In as much as under the New Welfare Law the County must
make all investigations for Welfare - thus eliuinating much of the
work formerly done by the Town Welfare Officer the Town Board felt
it inadvisable to continue having a Welfare Officer and upon motion
of Justice Johnson , seconded by Justice Baker it was resolved that
the office of Town Welfare Officer be - abbIshed and the Board
authorized the Supervisor to do thiswork . .for the present at no

A motion was made by Justice Hoagland and seconded by
Justice Baker that the Tompkins County Rural News be designated as
the Offical Newspaper of the Town of Dryden . Carried and so ordered ;
