1 A July 23 1945
The town board meet at the office of the town clerk for regular meeting
justices Cornelius , Beck , Baker , an& Spailding were present , also Supt . of Hight.
ways , Pbwney as chairman •
The minutes of the last meeting were read .
Frank Ellis was present and gave a report on his work as special dog
warden .
A letter was read from County welfare officer explaining the new welfare
law covering the method of payment to welfare clients . As the result of a
discussion which followed , a motion was made by Baker that the Town adopt
plan A of the new system , seconded by Beck and carried , by a umanious roll calf.

carried on the Varna Hall . bpaulding moved that a policy be taken out with Geo .
Bailey for SI000 , 00 to . cover • this building , Seconded by Cornelius and . carried ,

carried by a roil call vote . '
general bills were read a motion was made by Baker to pay as • read sec c-

Highway bills read( totaling $ 1396 . 00 were read and Cornelius moved to
pay these ar read seconded by_ 4akREn nd . carried by a ` roil Call vote ,
A letter was read from " alter and thna Havington , _ reccommending Rebecca
Simpsonbe appointed as election ins ector in diet 5 to fill vacancy , and a
motion was made by Spaulding % tfe for this _ appointment seconded by hoaglan
and carried .
The matter of insurance " on voting machines was taken up and Discussed: ,
and a motion was made by 6paulding to table the matter untill the next meeting
giving the Sup# . oppurtunity to obtain more information regarding rates and/$
and Ect .
A ' letter was read from j''lizabeth Fulkerson giving a report on her work
and ' attendance at the convention for Historians at Albany , and thanking the
Board for their help to her . .
The chairman ask the welfare officer what amount would be required
to have deposited in the welfare revolving fund , to carry on under the new
system . The amount agreed upon was $ 200 . 00 . Hoagland moved that $ 200 . 00 be
transferred fromhome relief to cash telief , to Edna Nicely as Town welfare
officer , seconded by teck and carried .
The. Supv . reported that he had recieved a complaint from residence
of the Bethel Drove Dist . in regards to their fire protection . This was discus
ssedHand s a result Spaulding moved that the Dryden Fire Co . be notified of
the complaint and be invited to attend the next Town board meeting to discuss
this matter seconded by Hoagland and carried .
The minutes of the meeting were read anf apprived . Upon motion meetil
was adjourned . .

The minutes of the last meeting were read for information .
George fellows was present , representing the Village of Dryden , asking
for the purchase of a strip of land ' off the Olmstead property , now owned by thw
town . ' A letter was read from L . Thaler covering the legal part pf such a
transaction .
Spaulding moved that the Town board authorize the Town welfare officer tc
convey to the village of Dryden , land off the Olmstead property , not to ex °
ceed 20 ft . souyh of the village property line , to such a point on the west
• village property line extendee in a westerly direction , parallel to the south
_ - property line already owned by the village . The village to ' remove Elm stump
on the north side of the property grade and repair or replace all damages .
' The villa e to pay all legal feesand transfers for the consideration to the
- town of $ ( 1000 ) One Dollar , seconded by Hoagland ' and carried by a roll call vot
A delegation from Bethel grove was present in regards to their fire
protection . The fire Co . was represented by Fire chief Fox , and Leslie Bell .
The matter was discussed from different angles and it was agreed to leave
the matter with the Dryden Fire Dept , and for them to report bath soon .

A motion was made b Hoagland to pay as read seconded by Spaulding and carrie
- by 4 roll call. vote ,

Highway bills were raead totaling $ 4083 . 68 `'eck moved that these be paid
as read seconded by Hoagland and carried by a roll call vote .
Spaukding moved that edna Nicely br re - appointed as school attendance
Offiher sec . by Baker and carried .
;ewie Fortner was nominated as checker of voting machibnes to represent
the republican 'party and Tustin Blackman was apponated to represent the Dem
ocrats . a motion was made by Spauldibg that the nominations be accepted sec -
• onded by Beck and carrird .
The question of insurance on the voting machines was taken up and
Spaulding moved to continue at the present rate seconded by Hoagland , a '
roll call vote was taken which resulted ib a tie . The chairman breaking
the tie with a no vote .
Deck moved to take out insurance on the voting machines with The Tamp .
Co . Co - operatuve insurance Co . at the following amounts . The One new machin
$ 980 . 00 and on the five used machines $ 850 . 00 each seconded by Baker and
carried_ .
he matter of renting the Olmstead 'souse was discussed and Hoagland Iii
moved to make no improvements at this time on this house , seconded by raker '
and carried . The minutes of the meeting were raed and approved Upon motion
meeting was adjourned . .

The minutes of last meeting were read . A delegation from near hibbards
corners was present , a : .Wt;nthrop brown as spoksman asking for some improve -
• . ments on their road this fall and to have this road entered onthe programe
for 1946 , ( Cornelius 1"1oved that this road be en ered on the 1946 road programe
for improvement sec , by Spaulding and carried .
A delegation was present from Hunt hill with h Morgan Thomas as spokesan_
asking for improvement on their road thos fall , \ A motion was made by Spauldir
to enter this road for consideration for improvements on the 1946 programe ,
and to draw gravel this fall if. possiable seconded by Qornelius and carrued)
The welfare officers report' was read for thre month of Sept and Hogland
moved that it be accepted', seconded by Spaulding and carried , Two welfare
bills covering electrical work and an advancement by Nicely for a court
order summons were read and Spaulding moved to pay as read seconded by
Baker and carried by a roll call vote .
