"n Feb . 8th the town board met afi the office of the town clerk for
regular meeting , having been posponed from the regular date on account of
the storm - and blocked roads . 4.izstices: Beck , Hoagland , C:orneliusand Spaulding v
were present also erupt . of Highways . Downey presiding. .
The minutes of the last meeting were read for information. Welfare bills
and statement were read as follows ; ;

A motion wasrmade by Hoagland to purchase the Supplement to the Tompsont
law books and indexYsecondedf by "Paulding and carried by a roll .. call vote . .
A letter from the Supt:, ofHighways was read asking for a new Town Truck
and ask that this letter be filed in Clerks office . This.= matter was discussed
at lengtli , with the result that Cornelius moved -to table the proposition' untilli_
the next meeting seconded by Spaulding and carried . .
Spaulding° moved to recind the motion of Dec 5 1944 in regards to the
sale price of the international tractor being $ 1500 . 00 seconded by Hoagland and
carried . unamiously . .
A motion was made by Beck that the Mimimka., price on this tractor with
lows be 4750 . 00 sec . by Spaulding and carried . Upon motion meeting adjourned.

The clerk read a : letter from RZQ_. . VafMarter: County Welfare officer re -
5arding a mortgage held by the $tWn of Dryden: against: the Horace Williams
property - ( Estate ) . The Supv . gave a . report on this matter and Spaulding mov
that the Town board . accept the $ 375000 , that being the amount of the prinei -
p , seconded by Hoagland and carried by an unamious roll call vote .

D_ owney gave a report onthe disposal of the -McArthur fund , the interest
of which is to be dispvIbdted to the various school distrie.ts . Downey also . gav
a- report regarding-the/ Board of Supra . purshaaing the Williams, property in
Ithaca - to be used - converts & into an infirmary for the County , . which would be
a post -war projeit and explaned that it would take over ae a County Home . This;
explanation was gitenthe board with a request that they express their opinion
on the proposition,
A delegation was present from West Dryden , asking for the purchase of
new snow fighting equipmrnt . Petitionstfrom various sections of the town also
were read regarding this subject . Dissuasions followed and a representive
from the McDougal Co . was present and offered an - O®kosh_ IM 4 wheel drive 8ton

The town board meet at the office of the town clerk fin4aeapectia
Meeting• with the vuillage boards of Freeville and Dryden , in eonnestion w
with the dog quarintine and to consider the appointment of dog wardens .
All justises were present also full boards from each mamed villages ,
pv . Downey gave the reason for calking a special meeting and Mayor Redmore
MOVED that Chas . Downey be appointed as chairman of the meeting , seconded
by Alvord Baker and carried .
The chairman explained the situation regarding the Rabies epidemic r
prevailing amoung the dogs in adjoining countied stating that our nearest
case was in Aewark Valley , and that an as much as we were without a Co . dog.
waeden , due to the gesignment of dos:eph. Weidmere , and that no new warden had
been appointed to take his office it seemed advisable to appoint some temp -
erary Town dog wardens . County Attorney Newman was present and gave . legal
advise on- the question. It was proposed that each village appoint its own
dog wardens and the Town take over the rest of Dryden township , with the
compensation: set at f1 . 00per hour plus mileage , 3 nights per week this was car
carried by an aye vote . .
A motion was made by Hoagland that "the d1itiesr, of_ the_. dog wardens start
April! I - 45 . seconded by McArthur and carried ;' ' te
At this time the two village boards retired and - a_ discussion followed
regarding the Town ' s part of this question , with the result. " that Cornelius i
moved that the compensation be $ 1 . 00per hour not to exceed 25hrs per month .
the time to be apread over tha 4 weeks period of the month , furthur allow -
ance of $ I5000traveling expenses at the legal rate of . 06. cents per mile ,
Bills to be rendered specifying miles traveled and what territory covered,
seconded by Hoagland and carried .
." A motion was made by Spaulding that L . Thaler be authorized to take Al
sgch legal steps as neccessary to safeguard the - Towns interest on monies .
advanced for relief in the Jim Mullen case ; seconded by Hoagland and carried . 1
Beck moved to hold the Annuall road tour on April 7 to meet et" the cl
clerks office at 9A . M . seconded by Hoagland and carried . Uponmotion meeting
adjournede . _
