all justices were present but § paulding , Supt . of Highways and welfare officer

As this was our budget meeting Attorney: Newman was present to assist -
with the budget if neccessary .

The town board met at the Houtz Hall at Etaa for a_ public_ hearing
on the plemin ary budget , all justices were present but Hoagland , upv .
Downey presiding . Lawyer newman was ; present also three tax palers7uincl -
udirg the trustee of thehall . . •
The clerk read the notice of the public hearing ascpublished in the r
Rural news_, after which the budget was read • and each item was discussed in
dinually . The ckerk gave the statement that in as much as her work had dim -
. isled somewhat .due to a change in the law she was vblontrary lowering her
salary . 4I00 . O0_ per year for 1945 , but requesting that the joidget be left
at $ I600 . 00 in antisipati .:,n of an increase in her work . after a few changes
in the budget , Spaulding - moved that the following resolution be adopted
( resolution attached to the budget ) . seconded by Beck and carried by a roll

All justices ,present also the Supt . and Welfare officer . Downey as chairman .
The minutes of the last two meetings were read and a correction made aE
to the attendance of Justice Spaulding being present at the Oct . 3 meeting
The minutes were approved .

The welfare officer gave a report on her work_and the out of settlement
cases , also discussed the need • of a petition in the Olmstead house , tp
aid in heatingthe up stairs apartment . It wassagreed that the welfare ofrio
an estimate on the cost of this job and report at the meeting Nov . 8 .

The Supv ; reported that in asrmuch as a question: had arrisen concerning
the town telephone being used as a real estate telephone he had consulted
Lawyer Newman and thought it best to make a change ; Therefore a motion was
made by Baker that the motion made at a meeting held Aug . e 1945 concerndira
the town Clerks telephone being a town telephone be resinded seconded by
Cornelius - and carried by an aye vote . The Clerk was requested to notify
the telephone Co . of the Town Boards action and to reverttotthe old system
to take effect Nov. . T 1944 .
