Th-enTown board meetin a .. special session , with the village boards of ;
Freeville and Dryden , at the village hall in Dryden for the purpose of taking u
up the matter of Police protection for the entire town of Dryden .
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hoagland , and the matter was
-discussed from all angles : Mayor Strong of Freeville was presentand stated
• that while he thought the village would approve of such an arrangement , he
was no.t . in. any position to contract in any way without the rest of the Freevill
board present and they were unable to attend this meeting . Mr Whitfordw as
also present and gave an account of past expenses and income from his work
the past year . The cost to the town for- the first year was estimated as # 1200 , 0
that amount covering the cost of a new car , equipped for police service and
maintainanceof same . The town board retired and aftercareful consideration:
- - A ' motion was made by Orrie Cornelius and seconded by Baker . that the entire
Town boardgo on record as favoring , Town police protection wiyh the villages
but unfortunately no provision is made in the . current budget for such an
additional expense . Adopting this plan would mean diverting funds already
. appropreated for Highway work and changing a budget already approved by the . 9
Counyk Board. of Supv . We are uncertain of the legality of diverting funds al
already budgeted , and wish to give this plan more consideration , Roll Call
