The town board of the town of Dryden meet at the office of the Town clerk
for regular monthly ' meeting . with alitjustices present , Supv Sweetland presiding
A delegation with Ernest Cotteral as spokesman was present , asking for
improvement on road , from Newlons corners past the Motts and Cotterali Farms , to
Dryden FreevilleH"Ighway , bein about 22 miles . to be improved this summer . and
stated that any gravel suitable fob such improvement , available would be furnished
for the hauling . A motion made by Ackerman seconded by Beck to consider this •
road after the spring inspection . Carried .
Three reprepentives from the General tire and rubber Co . present and
Quoited prices on tires and explained the process of retreading tires .
The March Welfare statement Amp read and war$ approved . Welfare ufficer
• Waiter Kinch stated ; some facts regarding the N . Y . A . programs , with Mr . Coyle
as promoter . , thought. such a programe would be . quite Advisable for this Town ,
Fay Knapp present asking for Thirty Ft . of 6inch sluice for a . drive
way at his place , also for improvemaent . on the road from . Wheelers cornersrhis
placejStating there ; were I0 children on said road to attend school . No action was
taken .
Highway bills read ; and motion made by Baker seconded by Ackerman
• to pay bilis as read . Carried .
Prof . Tarr , Clifford Scutt , Alton Mott , and John Noro , from the
Boadr of Education present , asking the Town Board to reconsided , the proposition
of holding a special Town Meeting for the Purpose of taking up the Gaspel Fund ;

A motion made by Baker , seconded by Ackerman , to Adopt such resolution
as found on page23 . A vote by Ballot was taken , with Beck and Spaulding astellers ,
with following results . 5 ballots cast . yes 4 , Blank I .
A motion made by Beck seconded by . Baker Authorizing Supv Sweetland
to employ Lawyer Truman , r ;joi,ntlr- th`. =oth :."towns to represent Town of Dryden,
in the Tax refund case . Carried
'notion ' made by Baker to transfer # 500 . 00 from general to Welfare fund
Carried .

The resignation of C . D . Griswold , as Assessor was read , and motion
made by Ackerman Seconded by Beck that resignation be accepted . carried .
A motion made by Cornelius , seconded by Baker To appoint C . A . Mott
as Assessor to fill vacancy . for the unexpired term of Mr Griswold . A vote by
ballot was taken with Spaulding and beck as tellers withthe result 5 ballots
cast . yes 5 . 0 A . /tatt declared duly elected . •
Welfare bills read and motion made and carried to pay bills as read .
Upon motion made and seconded meeting was adjourned .

R E S O L U T I O N
Mr . h . J . Ackerman offered the
• following resolution :
RESOLVED , that a special town election of the qualified
voters of the town of Dryden , Tompkins County , New York be
held at the town hall in the village of Dryden on the twenty-
eighth day of April , 1939 , to vote upon the proposition :
r " Shall the supervisor of the Town of Dryden be
O authorized and empowered to apportion the moneys .
and securities held by him and known as the Gospel
Fund of the Town of Dryden , Tompkins County , New
York , among the several school districts of the
Town of Dryden , prusuant t the provisions of Sections
524 , 525 , 526 and 527 of the Education Law of the
State of New York? " Be it further
RESOLVED , that the vote on said proposition shall be

by ballot and the polls shall remain open between the hours
of two o ' clock in the afternoon and eight o ' clock in the
evening . Be it further
RESOLVED , that the Town Clerk give notice of such
special election by the publication of a ,notice thereof in
; . the Tompkins County Rural News , a newspa? er published in
the town of Dryden aforesaid and by the posting of five
copies of said notice in five conspipuous places in said towh ,
said publication and posting to be at least ten days prior to
said election .
