Conservation Board Meeting Minutes
June 28, 2011
Members Present: Craig S., Bard P., Stan M., Bob B., Peter D., Nancy M., Milo R.
Additional Staff Present: Jane Nicholson

Agenda:
1. Agenda - Additions, deletions, adjustments.
2. EMC Update

CB Bylaws
Aquifer protection Plan
Open Space Plan - focusing; on Goals and Objectives, and moving on to inventory
4. ']'own Board Update - This is an opportunity for the Town Board liaison and/or the Town Supervisor or other Town
Board members to address the Conservation Board.
5. New Business: Peter Davies position needs

-- Additions, deletions, adjustments
- -check CEA's, updates and changes to be reviewed by the Board members
- -EMC Update (Environmental ,Management Council- Tompkins County)
-- review of meeting for June 8"'
-- review of Danby, letter as a response to the rapid waters management plan for the State Forest; concern of those
Category A. compatible with gas extraction
- -email updates of EMC before meetings that highlight Dryden- related concerns /interests?
- -Dryden might be in a potential leadership role in the County /area with the tracking issue', take it head -on so we're not
left singled out in the County —bet a coalition within the Town; action to snake sure it's done properly
--TCOG (gas task force) is reporting to other municipalities what they're doing
- -Might want to start expecting a permit for a wind turbine in the future; Cornell looking to put near buildings on a
smaller scale
--CB Bylaws
- -No change; on agenda until the Town Board approves them
— Aquifer Protection Plan
- -This is the only well defined aquifer in our Town
-- Review of the Aquifer Protection District as an example of a recently adopted law for recharge zone
- -Board member leave of absence
.- Discussion of additional individual that can take pant in a discussion, but not a voting member
- -Would have to change bylaws- "Associate Position'; category of "Associate Member" that would not have a limiting
number- allow us to bring in a specialist in some category
-- Unanimous vote to change the bylaws
- -Open Space Plan
- -Goals and objectives review —do we want to maintain the historic and pedestrian
-- Moving forward with the inventory— what's our strategy?
-- Review of what we need to do and our approach- agricultural properties,
