New Business
1. DRC Mission Statement and Short & Long'rerm Goals
Malty read the current mission statement. Bill asked Jen her feelings. Jen thought it needed work. After further
discussion — Matty proposed a reworded draft. Matty will ask Jeff Lewis at Horner Rec. for a copy of their eiN4ission
Statement; Steve will check with, Tom Edwards for Newfield's; and Jen will check with Steve Colt for Lansing's.
Bill addressed short/long term goals. Feeling was the first two short -term goals listed can be removed — these are
basically maintenance issues now.

On -Going Business & Updates
1, Wall Street Hall Field
Bill invited and introduced Dave Hicks. Dave specializes in turf management, etc. Bill reported that the
subcommittee (Bill, Marty, Jen, Jeff, Dave Hicks, Fred Whitmore, Bob Slocum) has met a couple of times. Steve
Stelick was invited and attended one of the meetings at the ball field. Dave reminded the group that in addition to the
initial costs there will also be on -going costs in relation to maintenance (i.e., fertilizing, mowing, lining, etc.). The
infield material is pricey. Discussion ensued about possible venues for fitnding as well as volunteers. Possible
funding sources: Kiwanis & Village. Possible volunteers: Kiwanis, HS students, community members.
In preparation for the field being ready this season: Bill will continue discussion with NYSEG for status of light pole
being moved out of the way, Bill will also contact Fred Whitmore for backstop costs; Marty & Dave will come up
with some real costs of field material and draw up a couple of proposal options in relation to what will be obtained for
the costs; Jen will contact Steve Colt to see what materials Lansing uses on their fields. Jen will also contact the
Youth Conservation Corps for their help with building benches/bleachers, etc.; Dave will contact John Bradley,
Dryden Village Parks Supv. for village input and involvement. Ralph mentioned possible portable backstops— he will
check pricing.
When costs and options are established, the subcommittee hopes to meet with Kiwanis and Village to present the costs
and examples of what will be obtained for the costs.

3, Dryden Lake Committee
Steve updated the DRC about the Dryden Lake Committee that was reconvened and meet last night to clear the air
regarding what Dryden Lake can and can't be used for. The Recreation Department will move forward with
recreational suggestions (i.e., annual Dryden event, boat rentals, dock landing, etc.) as soon as final clearance is
received from the Dept. of Environmental Conservation (DEC) on a couple of questions.
4. Dryden School llotain Cam Spruce -Up
Lisa reported on the status of this community effort. Lisa has briefed the school's non - instructional union president on
this community effort. The president said she didn't have a problem with this but asked that the cleaner rep. also
attend the informational meeting chat will be held in the future with the Dryden Lions Athletic Club Reps. , school
maintenance reps. and the school union reps.
Jim brought a sample of the purple mat covering. He reported that it appears we will receive a minimum of 30% off
the costs which are anticipated to come in at around 51,000 - 51,300.
Matry asked if we got the square footage of the gym to determine how much paint is needed — Jim measured the gym -
it totaled 7,390 square feet.
Ann asked status of donations — Lisa thought we could start obtaining donations as soon as the meeting with the union
reps takes place and the Board of Education is infortned.
5. S4.9million Dryden School Proiect
Lisa reported that the school board at their 3117103 meeting denied sending bids out, however at their 3124103 meeting
approved the bid process to take place after they spoke with Senator Sowards office regarding Gov. Pataki's proposal
to alter building aid. Senator Sowards office felt assured that Gov. Pataki's proposal would NOT be supported at '
either the House or Senate levels and suggested the school move forward with the project,
Ralph reported that he didn't believe the project itself would be completed much before 1 -2 years (at least as far as the
PE station/weight room being usable)
G. DCS Proposed Budget Cuts (Modified Sports)
Ralph reported that his personal feeling was that the Board would not cut modified sports. Ralph further explained
that the Board directed him to propose programs for cuts — he proposed golf and all levels of cheerleading. Matty
asked Ralph if Title IX was considered when he came up with his proposed program cuts and he reassured her yes.
Ralph reported that cheerleading is NOT recognized as a sport in NYS so this was the female program proposed.
Ralph further reported that Golf is listed contractually as co-ed, however, girls do not participate. Ralph reported that
there are only 6 students that can participate in a "match" "the rest of the team (maybe 8 students) practice" so this was
the male program proposed.
Malty left at 8:30am
Jenlllfer left at 8:35am
Discussed continued regarding the possibility of the Town supporting the modified level of programs in the event the
school did cut modified sports. Steve reported that the YFL (Youth Football League) has already discussed this
possibility and agreed to support modified level teams.
