scheduled with the Town Insurance C ompa[iy and various Other contact's inCILI(l'Ing the Village oflicials, etc_ Various DRC
merr[bers asked about ilie budget_ Jen replied that she dacsn't know the specific Town workings yet — she has only been giver[
the amount in the recreation budget.
2. Marty offered to check out pricing a TCS's print shop far lame projects and business cards, etc.
3.2AIlLisa tried to explain the tentative organizational structure of the Rec_ Coordinator position. The Rec_ Coordinator
reports to the Town Supervisor. The Rec, Gaordinataf will plan progralns and promote uniformity of the various Tos4n
recreational offerings_ Under the Rcc_ Coordinator will be interns and event coordinators. Udder the inferin and event
coordinators will be the voluntcers and coaches. The Rec. Coordinator will work with the interns and event coordinators to
ensure the projects and events progress [o thu highest standards,
4. Jen reported that she is working on establishing tike user fee structure including scholarship offerings for low - income
participants as well a5 a standard registration form,
5. Vicki reported that she is working can obmining interns t]u'ough SUNY Cortland Jen also mentioned Ithaca College as
another source for an intern_
6. Jen reported on a NYS Recreation & Pane Cnnlerence scheduled 31304!2;`03 and asked foil the DRC .support. The FIRE
gave unanimous st[ppurr. Jen has shared paperwork of this opportunity with the Town Supervisor who will submit it for

reduction iu the fee as Jcn is cu[Tently an adjunct professor at Rhaea College kind they are Iikely members of the N`YS Rec,

79 Jen reported that she attended the Tompkins County Recreafion Tooth Partnership Commi two ivleeting_ She rweived a
report Chat 650 youth vrithin the Tovni of Dryden participated with the majority being from a tots l)rogram. Jc1i did not lia,ve
the geographic breakdown of the 650 youth � the guess is chat they are on the Ithaca side of the Town, Jen to get a copy of
this report to Lisa far the minutes book,
S_ 1. DRC Mission ,Statement'Shoit Long Term Goals, Lisa obtained these documents filorn former DRC rrkernbcr Alice
Greenc. Dill reported that the DRC review them over the next couple of weeks and they will be reviewed & revised at [he
Mkirch DRC meeting.
2. Town Local Law needs to be reworded to include the new level for the Rec, Coordinator. Once this is done the
organizational chart can be developed.
3, Handout of some local parks with list of aflerings -Not completed. Lisa offered to email former DRC members Bob
Slocum and Stewart Gray asking for .9 copy of information previously gathered regarding existiner Town businesses and
parks and their recreational offerings. (beyond the brochure already made)
G. Lisa reminded the DR.0 of the Dcydeli Lions Athletic Chub meeting this evening to put the i[ern of a concession stand
Partnership between the }Fouili proga'ams kind the athletic club on the agenda,

4. On -Going Business
® A.
Wall Street Ball Field.
1. Bill reported that Roger Castcrline offered to speak with the DRC about maintaining baseball fields- Rogcr's
specialty. Bill also reported that Fred Whitmore wants an active role is getting this project done. Bill, Marty, and Jen
volunteered from the DRC to meet with Roger & Fred regarding this project. It was also suggested to include
community member Dave Hicks to meet with this group as well — Dave is involved in coaching at the youth level and his
job involves working somehow with dirt. (sorry I, Lisa, didn't get the full details of Dave's qualifications to report)
-2. Bill reported that the he has a message in to Dick Haight at NYSEG regarding moving of the light pole.

School Varsity Soccer Field Lights — Lisa reported that Steve hasn't heard back from his contact vet,

Adaptive PE Station /Weight Room Project — Ralph reported that the school has finally received SED approval for the
4.9 million dollar project for the MS/HS building which includes the adaptive PE stationlweight room as well as
bringing the district office staff to the MS /HS building, making an additional music room, and adding/moving
classrooms. However, no timeline has been set for this project.

Welcome Reception for Recreation Coordinator. Date was set for 3/20/03 as first choice. To be held at 7pm at the
Dryden Elementary Cafeteria. Matty, Ann and Lisa volunteered to work as a subcommittee to organize this event.

iS /HS Alain Gym Spruce -Up. Lisa reported that per John Bailey, insurance Advisor — the insurance company will
not support volunteers working on ladders or scaffolding. They can do any ground level work. Brian June who
volunteered to paint the art work is ok to work at his own risk. Jim reported that he is working on obtaining a
temporary account to get the mat covering at wholesale cost (48% savings). Matty reported that Bishops will help by
reducing the cost of white paint (they need square footage of gyni to figure out how many gallons of white paint are
needed) Ralph to contact Alan Tallman from the school for the square footage for wall paint. (NOTE: Jim Wood was
able to get the square footage this evening when lie was in the building — it is 7,380 sq. ft.) Jim will contact Dryden
Agway to check on their help in providing the purple paint (donation or cost break). Jim will talk with Brian June to
figure out how much purple paint will be needed for the art work. Ralph reported that lie checked on new banners —
cost is approx. 5150- 200ibamier. Thought is to have l banner per sport (approx. 20 banners). His budget is approx,
51,000 short. Lisa suggested that Marianne Christofferson who has expressed helping with this project may have
contacts as well as her own sewing abilities to bring this cost down.
(NOTE: Lisa has recently received suggestions from staff /community asking us to check with WalMart for pahit.
These folks said that WalMart is known for helping with community projects via donations. ANTY VOLUNTEERS
