HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-12-26• 0 • TOWN OF DANBY SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES December 26, 1983 A special meeting was held by the Town Board of the Town of Danby at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Ithaca, New York, December 26, 1983. The purpose of this meeting is to pay all final bills for 1983 and appointment of highway superintendent. Meeting called to order at 8:07 PM. Board Members present: Councilperson Mary Oltz Councilperson Dorothy Roberts Councilman Ted Merritt Supervisor Mildred Miller Absent: Councilperson Sylvia Hiney Others present: Edward Shay, Edward Roberts, Helen Mundell Ithaca Journal Reporter, Roy and Mary Casterline, Glenn Cas- terline, Roger Hile, Gould Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Coddington, Luke Carpenter, Supervisor Mildred Miller presented brief summary of bal- ances in General Fund and Highway Fund as of December 15, Mr. Coleman spoke in favor of town board considering the application from Mr. Luke Carpenter for position of highway superintendent. Mr. Coleman is impressed with his exper- ience in supervisory work in Penn Yan, Supervisor Miller suggested Mr. Kenneth Coddington be appoint- ed as acting highway superintendent for the present time until applications have been reviewed. Councilperson Mary Oltz made the motion to appoint Mr. Coddington as acting highway superintendent, seconded by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and carried unanimously. Mr. Coddington said he would like approval to hire another man for 3 months to fill his position at.the highway depart- ment. Motion made by Supervisor Miller and seconded by Councilperson Mary Oltz and carried unanimously. Councilman Ted Merritt said he wihhes not to serve as town constable for 1984. The town clerk would like to encumber balance in contractual account to equipment account for 1984. This money will be used to purchase a new typewriter. Motion made by Council - person Dorothy Roberts, seconded by Councilperson Mary Oltz and carried unanimously. Warrants: General Fund #13 in the amount of $3269.62 was approved to • be paid. Motion made by Supervisor Miller, seconded by Councilperson Mary Oltz and carried unanimously. Highwgg Fund #13 in the amount of $987.94 was approved to be paid. Motion made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts, seconded by Supervisor Miller and carried unanimously. West Danby Water Distpict #13 in the amount of $102.65 was approved to be paid. Motion made by Council Mary Oltz and seconded by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and carried unanimously. Federal Revenue Sharing #13 in the amount of $58.00 was approved to be paid. Motion made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts, seconded by Supervisor Miller and carried unani- mously. Town Board Meeting Minutes - December 26, 1983 Supervisor Miller said a resolution is needed to transfer monies from retirement fund, water district to SW8320.4 to pay bills. RESOLUTION # 39 TRANSFER FUNDS FROM RETIREMENT FUND TO SW8320e4 TO BALANCE THE ACCOUNT FOR THE OVER DRAWN AMOUNT OF $261.050 Potion made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts, seconded by Council - person Mary Oltz. Roll call vote: Merritt - aye Oltz - aye Roberts - aye Miller - aye RESOLUTION #40 AUTHORIZE SUPERVISOR MILLER TO BORROW MONIES FROM APPROPRIATION ACCOUNTS TO BALANCE THE GENERAL FUND BOOKS AT END OF YEAR. Motion made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts, seconded by Council - person Mary Oltz. Roll call vote: Merritt - aye Oltz - aye Roberts - aye Miller - aye Supervisor Miller reported them will be a special meeting 0anuary 29 1984 to review applications for position of highway superinten- dent at 7:00 PM.
