SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
May 16, 1983
A special meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order at
7;00 PM at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of Danby,
County of Tompkins, and State of New York on May 16, 1983. The
purpose of this meeting was to open bids for Pipe -Arch on Brown
Road and also sale of tow - behind grader.
Board members present: Councilman Ted Merritt, Councilperson Mary
Oltz, Councilperson Dorothy Roberts, Supervisor Mildred Miller.
Absent: Councilperson Sylvia giney.
Others present: Highway Superintendent, Roger Hile
• Proof of publication in the newspaper was read by the town clerk.
The following bids were received for the supply of pipe -arch for
• Brown Road.
Lane Metal Products Company, Inc. $5,329.20
Robert D. Spence, Inc. $5,497.00
Chemung Supply Corp. $5,197.00
Republic Steel Corp. $41805.20
General discussion followed as to who will supply the labor for
installation of pipe arch. Superintendent Hile reported the towns
highway crew will put together the pipe arch and install it at the
location on Brown Road. Councilman Ted Merritt made the motion to
accept the bid of Republic Steel and seconded by Councilperson
Dorothy Roberts.

$41805.20 TO SUPPLY THE PIPE ARCH
MATERIAL FOR BROWN ROAD BRIDGE.
Roll call vote; Councilman Merritt - aye
Councilperson Oltz - aye
Councilperson Roberts - aye
Supervisor Miller - aye
Carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes.
No bids were received for sale of town's tow - behind grader and
Supervisor Miller reported grader will be put out to sale to any-
one who inquires on it. Tow- behind grader is very old and of no
use to the highway department.
Business closed to bids.
Highway Superintendent Roger Hile reported he has put up No -Tres-
• passing signs around the highway barns property to warn kids who
have been playing around the gravel piles and machinery to stay
off the property. Supervisor Miller is going to put an announce-
ment in the Danby Area News to alert parents of this problem
• Councilman Merritt suggested the town board continue looking into
improvements of highway barns and in purchasing property for such.
He mentioned interest rates are down and now would be an ideal time,
to purchase land. Board members agreed they will all look into
available property that might be for sale in Danby and report at
next meeting.
Councilperson Dorothy Roberts made the motion to adjourn the meet-
ing at 8:30 PM and seconded by Councilperson. Mary Oltz and carried
by a vote of four ayes and no noes.
