TOWN OF DANBY
TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES
July 14, 1980,
The regular meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order at
8:25 P.M. at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of Danby,
County of Tompkins and State of New York on July 14, 19800
Board members. present: Councilman Ted Merritt
Councilperson Dorothy Roberts
Councilman Robert Snedden
Supervisor Mildred Miller
Board member absent: Councilman Bradley Corbitt
Others present: Herbert Ingman, Frank Haskins, Pam Clermont, Donald
Wright, Sylvia Hiney, Edward Slights, Carol and Walter Sczepanski,
Bill Shippos and Wife, Donald Graham, and David Benson.
Councilman Robert Snedden made the motion that the minutes of the
regular Town Board meeting of June 9, 1980 be approved as presented.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Ted Merritt and carried by a
vote of four ayes and no noes.
COMMUNICATIONS:
1. A letter from the Office of the Secretary of the Treasury
concerning Revenue Sharing Funds.
2. Letter from Cooperative Extension concerning the 4 -H Acres
Youth Fair.
3. Letter from the school board of the Ithaca City School
District in answer to a letter from the Danby Town Board
concerning the closing of Danby School.
4. A letter from Governor Carey's Office acknowledging receipt
of a copy of Resolution #22 adopted by the Danby Town Board
on June 9, 1980.
5. Minutes of the meeting of the West Danby Water Commissioners
held July 2, 1980.
Supervisor Mildred L. Miller read a letter of resignation received
from Councilman Bradley Corbitt. This resignation to be affective
June 30, 1980. Councilman Ted Merritt made the motion that Mr.
Corbitt's resignation be accepted. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Robert Snedden and carried by a vote of four ayes and
no noes. Supervisor Miller moved a resolution of appreciation for
Bradley Corbitt's services to the Town of Danby. The resolution was
seconded by Councilman Robert Snedden.

By written notice to the Danby Town Board, the Town of Danby
Republican Committee endorsed Sylvia Hiney for appointment as
councilman to fill the vacancy made by the resignation of Bradley
Corbitt. This appointment to be effective immediately. The balance
of Mr. Corbitt's term will be filled by public vote in the November
election. Councilman Ted Merritt made the motion that Sylvia Hiney
be appointed Councilperson for the Town of Danby to fill the
vacancy on the board. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Robert Snedden and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes. The
Town Clerk then administered the oath of office and Sylvia Hiney
joined the town board as its new member.
PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR:
The status of the cable T.V. service for West Danby was discussed.
The petitions have not been circulated and Judson Leonard was not
at the meeting. Pam Clermont will contact Mr. Leonard to see where
the petitions are and what is being done.

Gay Huddle wrote a letter to the Town Board concerning the possibility
of using the Danby School and what must be done in order that the
town could use it. The use of the school was discussed by the
board. Mr. Benson asked if the pre- school could possibly use the
Town Hall for their classes. This was discussed. The Town Board
asked for a written proposal.
The meeting was then closed to the privilege of the floor.
OLD BUSINESS:
After discussion, Councilman Robert Snedden made the motion that Gary
Leonhardt be appointed to serve as a member of the Town of Danby
Planning Board. This would be his second term of office. The motion
was seconded by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and carried by a vote
of five ayes and no noes.
Supervisor Mildred L. Miller stated that upon request a local law
authorizing the conduct of games of chance in the Town of Danby ha

non - profit organizations in the town and a public hearing on this

Councilman Robert Snedden.

Planning Board - A meeting was held on June 18th, Dr. Nezvesk 's
intentions for the development of the property he purchased from
Mr. Sebesta were discussed. The Dobson problem was talked about and
also putting trailers on private lots was brought up.
NEW BUSINESS
Supervisor Mildred Miller introduced a resolution which would allow
the town to participate in the safer local roads and streets program
with 75% reimbursement by State bond funds.After discussion, Council-
man Ted Merritt moved the resolution which was seconded by Supervisor
Mildred Miller.

Supervisor Mildred Miller asked that all town officials prepare
estimates of expenditures and revenues for 1981 and present them at
the August meeting of the Town Board,
General Fund Warrant #7 in the amount of $1,759.98 was approved
paid. The motion was made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and
seconded by Councilperson Sylvia Hiney and carried by a vote of
ayes and no noes.
Highway Fund Warrant #7 in the amount of $10,515.01 was approved
be paid. The motion was made by Councilman Robert Snedden and
seconded by Councilman Ted Merritt and carried by a vote of five
ayes and no noes,

approved to be paid. The motion was made by Councilman Ted Merritt
and seconded by Supervisor Mildred Miller and carried by a vote of
five ayes and no noes.
